1. Product Overview

The AR-PRO bicycle inner tube is designed for 700c (622) road bikes with tire widths between 20mm and 25mm. It features a 48mm Presta valve. Constructed from thick butyl rubber, these tubes are engineered to absorb shocks, provide a smooth ride, and offer resistance against punctures.

2. Setup and Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the performance and longevity of your inner tube. Follow these steps carefully:

1. Prepare the Wheel: Remove the wheel from the bicycle. If replacing an old tube, completely deflate and remove the old tube and tire. Inspect the tire and rim for any sharp objects, debris, or damage that could cause a new puncture.
2. Install One Side of the Tire: Place one bead of the bicycle tire onto the rim. Ensure it is seated evenly.
3. Slightly Inflate the New Tube: Inflate the new AR-PRO inner tube slightly (just enough to give it shape) to prevent pinching during installation.
4. Insert the Valve: Insert the Presta valve of the inner tube through the valve hole in the rim. Secure it with the valve nut, but do not overtighten yet.
5. Position the Tube: Carefully tuck the inner tube inside the tire, ensuring it is not twisted and lies smoothly within the tire casing.
6. Install the Second Side of the Tire: Starting opposite the valve, work the second bead of the tire onto the rim. Use tire levers (provided in some AR-PRO bundles) if necessary, being careful not to pinch the inner tube.
7. Check for Pinches: Before full inflation, push the valve stem up into the tire to ensure the tube base is not caught between the tire bead and the rim. Work your way around the tire, checking that the tube is not pinched.
8. Inflate the Tire: Inflate the tire to the recommended pressure indicated on the tire sidewall. Do not exceed the maximum pressure.

3. Operating Guidelines

Once installed, ensure your inner tubes are maintained for optimal performance:

• Maintain Correct Tire Pressure: Regularly check and maintain the tire pressure according to the recommendations on your tire sidewall. Incorrect pressure can lead to punctures (pinch flats) or reduced ride quality.
• Avoid Over-inflation: Do not inflate the tire beyond the maximum pressure specified on the tire. Over-inflation can cause the tube to burst or damage the tire and rim.
• Inspect Tires Regularly: Periodically inspect your tires for embedded glass, thorns, or other sharp objects that could eventually work their way through to the inner tube.

4. Maintenance

To extend the life of your AR-PRO inner tubes and ensure safe cycling:

• Storage: Store spare inner tubes in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Keep them in their original packaging or a sealed bag to protect them from ozone and UV light, which can degrade rubber.
• Valve Care: Ensure the Presta valve cap is always in place to protect the valve core from dirt and damage. If the valve core becomes loose, gently tighten it with a Presta valve tool.
• Patching: Small punctures can often be repaired using a standard bicycle tube patch kit. Follow the patch kit instructions carefully for effective repair.

5. Troubleshooting Common Issues

Here are solutions to common problems you might encounter:

• Frequent Flats:
  • Cause: Puncture from debris, pinch flat, or faulty rim tape.
  • Solution: Thoroughly inspect the tire casing for embedded objects. Check rim tape for damage or misalignment. Ensure proper tire pressure to prevent pinch flats.
• Air Leak Around Valve:
  • Cause: Loose valve core or damaged valve stem.
  • Solution: Tighten the Presta valve core. If the stem is damaged, the tube needs replacement.
• Tube Bursts During Inflation:
  • Cause: Tube pinched between tire and rim, or over-inflation.
  • Solution: Deflate, re-seat the tire and tube carefully, ensuring no pinching. Inflate slowly to recommended pressure.
