1. Product Overview

The EASYGUARD EC212PP is a plug-and-play remote starter system designed to add remote start and stop functionality to your vehicle using your existing factory remote control. This system integrates seamlessly with your car's original electronics, providing convenience without requiring additional remote fobs.

2. Vehicle Compatibility

This remote starter is specifically designed for:

  • Toyota Fortuner (2016-2021)
  • Toyota Hilux (2016-2021)

Important Compatibility Notes:

  • Only compatible with vehicles equipped with an original factory push-start button.
  • Only compatible with gas engines and automatic transmissions.
  • Not compatible with hybrid vehicles or key-start cars.

3. Main Features

  • Remote start and stop using your factory key fob.

4. Installation

The EC212PP system is designed for plug-and-play installation, minimizing the need for complex wiring. It includes a T-harness for direct connection to your vehicle's existing ports.

5. Programming Procedure

After completing the physical installation, the system requires programming to synchronize with your vehicle. Ensure the ignition is turned OFF before starting the programming process.

Programming Steps:

  1. Step 1: Press and hold the programming button on the control module. Then, plug in the main connector to the control module. The LED will alternate between blue, yellow, and red flashes.
  2. Step 2: Release the programming button when the blue light illuminates continuously.
  3. Step 3: Do not press the brake pedal. Press the push-to-start button twice to turn the ignition ON. The blue LED light will turn off, then flash rapidly after 3-5 seconds, indicating successful learning.

6. Operation

Remote Start/Stop:

To remote start or stop your vehicle, use your original factory remote control.

  1. Ensure the vehicle is locked.
  2. Press the lock button on your factory remote control three (3) times consecutively.
  3. Pressing the lock button three (3) times again will turn off the engine.

When pressing the lock button, avoid pressing too fast or too slow; aim for approximately one second per press.

Open Door Shut Down:

Once your car is remote started, opening any door will cause the engine to shut down. This is a default safety setting. After remote starting, you must restart the engine manually before driving the vehicle.

The remote start range is limited to the effective working range of your current factory remote control.

8. Troubleshooting & Important Notes

  • OEM Remote Functionality: The vehicle's OEM remote may not work to lock or unlock the doors while the vehicle is remote started. This is a characteristic of the system.
