Setup

1. Battery Installation

The thermometer comes with one CR2032 battery pre-installed and one spare. If the display does not turn on, or if the display is dim, you may need to replace the battery.

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the unit (labeled 9 in Figure 5).
  2. Use a coin or small screwdriver to twist open the battery cover.
  3. Insert a new CR2032 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
  4. Replace the battery cover and twist to secure it.

2. Initial Power On

The thermometer automatically powers on when the main foldable probe is extended. It powers off when the probe is folded back into the unit. If the wired probe is connected, the unit will also power on.

Operating Instructions

1. Basic Temperature Measurement

  1. Extend the main foldable probe or connect the wired probe to the unit. The thermometer will power on.
  2. Insert the probe tip into the thickest part of the food, avoiding bone or gristle.
  3. Wait for 2-3 seconds for the temperature reading to stabilize on the LCD display.

3. Using the Wired Probe

The wired probe is designed for continuous temperature monitoring, especially when cooking in an oven or grill.

  1. Plug the wired probe into the jack on the side of the main unit (labeled 10 in Figure 5). The unit will automatically power on.

4. Setting the Alarm Function

The alarm function alerts you when the food reaches a desired temperature.

  1. Press the ALARM SET button (labeled 4 in Figure 5). The alarm temperature will flash.
  2. Use the °F/°C button to increase the temperature and the HOLD/CAL button to decrease it.
  3. Press ALARM SET again to confirm the setting.
  4. When the measured temperature reaches the set alarm temperature, the alarm will sound for 10 minutes unless any button is pressed to stop it.

5. Hold Function

To hold the current temperature reading on the display, press the HOLD/CAL button briefly. Press it again to release the hold and resume live temperature readings.

6. Backlight

The large LCD display features a bright backlight for easy reading in low-light conditions. The backlight automatically activates when the probe is extended or a button is pressed, and it will turn off after a short period of inactivity to conserve battery life.

Calibration

The TEMOLA TM27 thermometer is pre-calibrated at the factory. However, if you suspect inaccuracy, you can perform a user calibration using an ice water bath.

Ice Water Calibration Procedure:

  1. Fill a glass with crushed ice and then add cold water until the glass is full. Stir the mixture well and let it sit for 3-5 minutes.
  2. Insert the thermometer probe into the center of the ice water mixture, ensuring the probe tip does not touch the bottom or sides of the glass.
  3. Wait for the reading to stabilize (approximately 30 seconds). The temperature should read 0°C (32°F).
  4. If the reading is not 0°C (32°F), press and hold the HOLD/CAL button for 3 seconds. The display will flash, indicating calibration mode.
  5. The thermometer will automatically adjust to 0°C (32°F). Release the button. The calibration is complete.
