Setup and Assembly
The Sunnydaze Galvanized Raised Metal Garden Bed is designed for quick and straightforward assembly. A screwdriver is the only tool required.
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all panels and hardware from the packaging. Lay them out on a clean, flat surface to ensure all parts are accounted for.
- Connect Panels: Align the pre-drilled holes of the side panels with the corner panels. Insert bolts through the holes and secure them with wingnuts. Do not overtighten initially; leave them slightly loose to allow for adjustments.
- Form Rectangle: Continue connecting all panels to form the rectangular shape of the garden bed. Ensure all corners are properly aligned.
- Tighten Hardware: Once all panels are connected and the shape is correct, systematically tighten all bolts and wingnuts using a screwdriver until secure. Ensure the structure is firm and stable.
- Position Garden Bed: Carefully move the assembled garden bed to its final desired location. Consider sunlight exposure, water access, and level ground.

Operating Instructions
Once assembled and positioned, your raised garden bed is ready for planting.
- Choose Location: Select a site that receives adequate sunlight for the plants you intend to grow. Ensure the ground is relatively level to prevent uneven settling.
- Fill with Soil: Begin filling the garden bed with a high-quality soil mix suitable for your plants. The bed has a capacity of approximately 7.8 cubic feet or 59 gallons.
- Planting: Once filled, you can begin planting your desired vegetables, herbs, or flowers. The raised design offers several benefits:
- Improved Drainage: Prevents waterlogging and root rot.
- Better Aeration: Promotes healthier root systems.
- Warmer Soil: Encourages faster germination and growth.
- Pest Protection: Provides a barrier against some ground-level pests.
- Watering: Water your plants regularly according to their specific needs. The bottomless design allows plants to root deeply into the ground below, accessing additional moisture and nutrients.

Maintenance
The galvanized steel construction of your garden bed is designed for durability and weather resistance. Minimal maintenance is required.
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe down the exterior of the garden bed with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Avoid abrasive cleaners that could damage the galvanized finish.
- Rust Prevention: While galvanized steel is highly rust-resistant, prolonged exposure to certain chemicals or highly acidic soil may affect its finish over time. Inspect the bed annually for any signs of wear. Some minor surface rust may appear on screws over time, as noted by users, but this typically does not affect the structural integrity of the galvanized panels.
- Structural Integrity: Occasionally check that all bolts and wingnuts remain tight. Retighten if necessary to maintain stability.

Troubleshooting
- Garden Bed Appears Unstable:
Ensure all bolts and wingnuts are fully tightened. Check that the garden bed is placed on a level surface. If the ground is uneven, consider leveling the area before placing the bed.
- Difficulty Assembling Panels:
Ensure panels are correctly oriented and aligned. Do not fully tighten bolts until all panels are loosely connected, allowing for minor adjustments.
- Waterlogging in Soil:
While the bottomless design promotes drainage, ensure the underlying soil is not compacted. Consider adding a layer of gravel or coarse material at the bottom of the bed before adding topsoil if drainage is a persistent issue in your area.
