1. Introduction
This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and maintenance of your Planet Audio MB2000.1D Class D Monoblock Car Amplifier. Please read this manual thoroughly before attempting installation or operation to ensure proper functionality and safety.
The Planet Audio MB2000.1D is a high-output, 1 Ohm stable, Class D monoblock amplifier featuring a MOSFET power supply, designed for car audio systems, particularly for driving subwoofers.
2. Safety Information
WARNING: Professional installation of this product is strongly encouraged to ensure proper and safe functionality.
Incorrect installation can lead to damage to the amplifier, vehicle electrical system, or personal injury. Always disconnect the vehicle's battery before starting any electrical work.
This product contains chemicals known to the State of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm (Proposition 65 Warning).

4. Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for optimal performance and safety. It is recommended to have this amplifier installed by a qualified professional.
4.1 Mounting the Amplifier
Choose a mounting location that is dry, well-ventilated, and protected from direct sunlight or excessive heat. Ensure sufficient space around the amplifier for proper cooling. The amplifier can be mounted horizontally or vertically.

4.2 Wiring Connections
Refer to the connection diagrams below for proper wiring. Always use appropriate gauge wiring for power, ground, and speaker connections.
4.2.1 Power and Ground Connections
- Power (+12V): Connect to the positive terminal of the vehicle's battery using a fuse holder within 18 inches of the battery.
- Ground (GND): Connect to a clean, unpainted metal surface of the vehicle chassis. Ensure a solid electrical connection.
- Remote Turn-On (REM): Connect to the remote output of your head unit.

4.2.2 Signal Input Connections
The MB2000.1D supports both low-level (RCA) and high-level (speaker wire) inputs.
- Low-Level Input: Use RCA cables to connect the amplifier's "SIGNAL INPUT" to the RCA pre-outs of your head unit.
- High-Level Input: If your head unit does not have RCA outputs, use the high-level input. Connect the speaker outputs of your head unit directly to the amplifier's high-level input terminals.
4.2.3 Speaker/Subwoofer Output Connections
Connect your subwoofer(s) to the "MONO OUTPUT" terminals. Ensure the total impedance of your subwoofer(s) is 1 Ohm or higher for stable operation.
Note: This is a monoblock amplifier, designed for a single channel output, typically for subwoofers.
5. Operating Controls and Adjustments
The MB2000.1D features several controls to fine-tune your audio system. These controls are located on the front panel of the amplifier.

Figure 5.1: Front panel controls of the MB2000.1D amplifier.
5.1 Input Sensitivity (Gain Control)
This control adjusts the amount of signal coming from your receiver to the amplifier. It is not a volume control. Set it to match the output voltage of your head unit. Start with the gain at minimum and slowly increase it until you hear distortion, then back off slightly.
- HI/LO Switch: Selects between high-level (speaker) or low-level (RCA) input.
- Input Level (MIN/MAX): Fine-tunes the input sensitivity.
5.2 Bass Boost
The Bass Boost control allows you to increase the low bass output within a specific frequency range (0 to +12 dB at 45 Hz). Use this sparingly to avoid distortion and potential speaker damage.
5.3 Subsonic Filter
This variable filter (15 Hz to 40 Hz) removes extremely low frequencies that are below the audible range or below the resonant frequency of your subwoofer enclosure. Filtering these frequencies protects your subwoofer from over-excursion and improves sound quality.
5.4 Low Pass Filter (LP Filter)
The variable Low Pass Filter (50 Hz to 250 Hz) allows only frequencies below the set point to pass through to the subwoofer. This is essential for integrating the subwoofer smoothly with your main speakers.
5.5 Sub Control (Remote Level Control)
Connect the included remote level control to the "SUB CONTROL" port. This allows for convenient adjustment of the subwoofer output level from the driver's seat.
6. Maintenance
The Planet Audio MB2000.1D amplifier requires minimal maintenance. Keep the amplifier clean and free from dust and debris. Ensure proper ventilation around the unit to prevent overheating.
- Periodically check all wiring connections for tightness and corrosion.
- Inspect fuses for proper function. The amplifier uses two 30 Amp ATO blade fuses. Replace only with fuses of the same type and rating.
- Avoid exposing the amplifier to moisture or extreme temperatures.
7. Troubleshooting
