3. Setup and Installation
The ABUS Bordo 6000K comes with an ST Lock Case for convenient transport on your bicycle. You have two primary options for mounting the case:
3.1 Mounting the ST Lock Case with Velcro Straps
- Identify a suitable location on your bicycle frame, ensuring it does not interfere with pedaling or other components.
- Wrap the anti-slip Velcro straps around the frame and through the designated slots on the ST Lock Case.
- Securely fasten the Velcro straps, ensuring the case is held firmly in place and does not shift during riding.
3.2 Mounting the ST Lock Case to Bottle Cage Mounts
- Align the screw holes on the ST Lock Case with your bicycle's bottle cage mounts.
- Use the provided screws to attach the case securely to the frame. Do not overtighten.

4.2 Securing Your Bicycle
- Position your bicycle next to a fixed object (e.g., a lamppost, bike rack).
- Wrap the unfolded lock around the bicycle frame (and ideally a wheel) and the fixed object. Ensure the lock passes through a non-removable part of the bicycle frame.
- Insert the locking bar into the lock body until it clicks securely.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and smooth operation of your ABUS Bordo 6000K Folding Lock.
- Cleaning: Periodically wipe down the lock bars and body with a damp cloth to remove dirt and grime. Avoid harsh chemicals that may damage the protective coating.
- Lubrication: Apply a small amount of lock lubricant (e.g., graphite-based or silicone-free spray) to the keyhole and folding joints every few months, or if the mechanism feels stiff. Insert the key and turn it several times to distribute the lubricant.
- Coating Protection: The lock features a two-component coating to protect your bicycle's paintwork. Inspect this coating regularly for any damage and avoid abrasive contact.
6. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your ABUS Bordo 6000K Folding Lock, consider the following:
- Stiff Mechanism: If the key is difficult to turn or the bars are hard to fold, apply lock lubricant to the cylinder and joints as described in the Maintenance section.
- Key Not Turning: Ensure the key is fully inserted and free of debris. Do not force the key. If lubrication does not help, contact ABUS support.
- Lost Keys: If you lose your keys, use the provided Code Card to order replacements from an authorized ABUS dealer or the ABUS website. Keep your Code Card in a safe place, separate from your keys.
