2. Important Safety Instructions
- Read all instructions before use.
- Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
- To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plugs, or toaster in water or other liquid.

4. Setup
- Unpacking: Carefully remove the toaster and all packaging materials. Keep packaging for future storage or disposal.
- Placement: Place the toaster on a stable, heat-resistant, and dry surface, away from flammable materials such as curtains or walls. Ensure adequate ventilation around the appliance.
- First Use: Before first use, operate the toaster without bread for a few cycles at a medium browning setting to burn off any manufacturing residues. A slight odor or smoke may occur; this is normal. Ensure the area is well-ventilated.
- Power Connection: Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
5. Operating Instructions
The GASTROBACK Digital 4S Toaster features two independent control sections, allowing you to toast different items simultaneously with separate settings for the left and right pairs of slots.
5.1 Basic Toasting
- Insert up to two slices of bread into the desired toasting slots (left or right side).
- Use the Bread Type button to select the appropriate bread type (White, Bagel, Grain, Sweet, Waffle, Eng. Muffin, Gluten-Free). The selected type will be displayed on the LCD.
- Adjust the browning level using the +/- buttons. There are 7 adjustable browning levels.
- Press the browning lever down until it locks into place. The toasting cycle will begin, and the LCD will display a countdown timer.
- Once the cycle is complete, the toast will automatically pop up.
5.2 Bread Type Programs
The toaster offers 7 predefined toasting programs for optimal results:
- White: Standard setting for white bread.
- Bagel: Toasts the cut side of bagels while gently warming the outer side.
- Grain: Optimized for whole grain or denser bread types.
- Sweet: For sweet breads like brioche or fruit bread.
- Waffle: Ideal for frozen or fresh waffles.
- Eng. Muffin: Specifically for English muffins.
- Gluten-Free: Adjusted for gluten-free bread, which often requires a different toasting profile.

5.3 Memory Function
The toaster allows you to save and easily select up to 4 preferred settings (bread type and browning level).
- Set your desired bread type and browning level.
- Press and hold the Memory button until the display indicates the setting is saved.
- To recall a saved setting, press the Memory button briefly to cycle through your saved preferences.
5.4 Reheat Function
To warm up already toasted bread without further browning:
- Insert the bread.
- Press the Reheat button.
- Press the browning lever down.
5.5 Defrost Function
To toast frozen bread:
- Insert the frozen bread.
- Press the Defrost button.
- Press the browning lever down. The toaster will automatically adjust the toasting time.
5.6 Cancel Function
To stop the toasting cycle at any time, press the Cancel button. The bread will immediately pop up.
5.7 Hi-Lift Function
After toasting, you can manually lift the browning lever higher than its resting position to easily retrieve smaller items like English muffins or small pastries without burning your fingers.
5.8 Integrated Warming Rack
The integrated warming rack is ideal for warming croissants, rolls, and other pastries.

- Push the lever on the side of the toaster upwards to raise the warming rack.
- Place the items to be warmed on the rack.
- Select the Reheat function or a low browning setting and press the browning lever down.
- Monitor the warming process to prevent burning.
- Once warmed, lift the lever to retract the rack.
6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your toaster.
6.1 Crumb Tray

- Always unplug the toaster and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.
- Pull out the removable crumb tray located at the bottom of the toaster.
- Discard accumulated crumbs.
- Wipe the tray with a damp cloth and dry thoroughly before reinserting.
- Never operate the toaster without the crumb tray in place.
