2. What's in the Box
Verify that all components are present before beginning installation.
- Shad 3P System fixing kit (specific to Honda CB650R)
- All necessary fasteners and mounting hardware
Note: Side cases (SH36/SH35) are sold separately and are not included with the 3P System kit.
3. Setup and Installation
This section provides general guidance for installing the Shad 3P System. For detailed, model-specific instructions, always refer to the diagram and instructions included in your physical fixing kit. Professional installation is recommended if you are unfamiliar with motorcycle accessory installation.
Required Tools (Not Included):
- Standard metric wrench set
- Hex key set
- Torque wrench (recommended for proper fastener tightening)
Installation Steps (General):
- Prepare the Motorcycle: Ensure the motorcycle is on a stable stand. Remove any existing components that obstruct the mounting points for the 3P System, such as passenger grab handles or specific fairing pieces, as indicated in your kit's instructions.
- Identify Mounting Points: Locate the designated mounting points on the motorcycle frame, typically near the rear footpegs and under the rear seat/fender.
- Attach Main Brackets: Secure the main support brackets of the 3P System to the motorcycle's frame using the provided fasteners. Do not fully tighten fasteners at this stage.
- Install Connecting Rods/Bars: Connect any cross-bars or connecting rods between the main brackets to ensure structural integrity.
- Align and Tighten: Once all components are loosely fitted, ensure proper alignment of the entire system. Gradually tighten all fasteners to the torque specifications provided in your kit's instructions.
- Final Check: Verify that the system is securely mounted and does not interfere with any moving parts of the motorcycle or rider/passenger comfort.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and safe operation of your Shad 3P System.
- Cleaning: Clean the metal components with a mild soap and water solution. Avoid abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the finish.
- Inspection: Periodically inspect all fasteners for tightness. Vibrations from riding can cause fasteners to loosen over time. Re-tighten to specifications if necessary.
- Damage Check: Check for any signs of damage, cracks, or excessive wear on the brackets and mounting points. Replace damaged components immediately.
- Lubrication: If any moving parts or locking mechanisms feel stiff, apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant.
6. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with the Shad 3P System.
- Side Case Does Not Attach Securely:
- Ensure the 3P System brackets are correctly installed and aligned.
- Verify that the side case is compatible (SH36 or SH35).
- Check for any obstructions on the mounting points of either the case or the bracket.
- Difficulty Detaching Side Case:
- Ensure the case is fully unlocked.
- Apply firm but gentle pressure to the release mechanism while pulling the case.
- Check for dirt or debris in the locking mechanism and clean if necessary.
- Loose or Rattling Brackets:
- Re-tighten all mounting bolts and fasteners according to the installation instructions.
- Inspect for any worn rubber grommets or spacers that may need replacement.
