Setup

1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the sensor unit.
  2. Open the compartment cover.
  3. Insert the two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

2. App Download and Wi-Fi Connection

The Swann Wireless Motion Alert Sensor Unit connects directly to your Wi-Fi network without requiring a separate hub.

  1. Download the official Swann Security app from your device's app store (compatible with Android and iPhone).
  2. Follow the in-app instructions to add a new device.
  3. Select the Motion Alert Sensor and follow the prompts to connect it to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
  4. Once connected, the sensor will be ready to send push notifications to your smartphone whenever motion is detected.

3. Mounting the Sensor

The sensor is designed for easy installation both indoors and outdoors due to its weatherproof design. It comes with an adjustable mounting bracket.

  1. Choose a suitable location for the sensor. Consider areas where motion detection is critical, such as entryways, hallways, or outdoor perimeters.
  2. Attach the adjustable mounting bracket to a wall or corner using the provided hardware. Ensure it is securely fastened.
  3. Snap the motion sensor unit onto the mounting bracket. The bracket allows for adjustment of the sensor's angle to optimize detection coverage.
  4. The sensor can detect movement up to 50 feet away within a 110-degree range. Position it to maximize coverage of the desired area.

Operating the Sensor

Once installed and connected to your Wi-Fi network, the Swann Wireless Motion Alert Sensor operates automatically.

  • Motion Detection: The sensor continuously monitors its detection area for movement.
  • Instant Alerts: Upon detecting motion, the sensor sends an immediate push notification to your connected smartphone via the Swann Security app.
  • Integration: The sensor can be paired with other Swann sensors, sirens, and cameras to create a more comprehensive security system. Refer to the Swann Security app for integration options.

Maintenance

  • Battery Replacement: The sensor is powered by 2 x AAA batteries. When the battery level is low, you may receive a notification via the Swann Security app. Replace batteries promptly to ensure continuous operation.
  • Cleaning: Wipe the sensor's exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Weather Resistance: The sensor has a weatherproof design, suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. However, avoid submerging it in water or exposing it to extreme conditions beyond its operating specifications.

Troubleshooting

Sensor frequently disconnects from Wi-Fi.
  • Weak Wi-Fi signal.
  • Interference from other devices.
  • Relocate sensor closer to the Wi-Fi router.
  • Ensure your Wi-Fi network is 2.4 GHz.
  • Minimize interference from other wireless devices.
