3.1 Components

4. Setup

4.1 Mounting

The lightmaXX LED Blinder 2 comes with a versatile mounting bracket for truss, floor, or stand mounting. Ensure the mounting surface or structure can safely support the weight of the fixture. Always use a safety cable (not included) when mounting the unit overhead to prevent accidental falls.

  • Attach the mounting bracket securely to a truss clamp or stand.
  • Adjust the angle of the fixture using the side knobs on the bracket.
  • Connect a safety cable from the fixture's safety rope attachment point to the mounting structure.

4.2 Power Connection

Connect the supplied power cable to the "POWER IN" IEC connector on the rear of the unit and then to a suitable grounded power outlet. The "POWER OUT" connector allows for daisy-chaining power to multiple units (check maximum power draw before connecting multiple units).

4.3 DMX Connection (Optional)

For DMX control, connect a DMX cable from your DMX controller's output to the "DMX IN" port on the blinder. To daisy-chain multiple DMX fixtures, connect a DMX cable from the "DMX OUT" port of the first blinder to the "DMX IN" port of the next fixture in the chain. Terminate the last fixture in the DMX chain with a DMX terminator.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Control Panel Operation

Use the four buttons on the rear panel to navigate the menu and adjust settings:

  • MENU: Enters the menu or goes back to the previous menu level.
  • UP: Scrolls up through menu options or increases a value.
  • DOWN: Scrolls down through menu options or decreases a value.
  • ENTER: Confirms a selection or enters a submenu.

5.2 DMX Modes and Channel Assignment

The lightmaXX LED Blinder 2 supports 6 DMX channels. Refer to the DMX chart below for specific channel functions. Set the DMX address using the control panel. The default DMX address is A001.

5.3 Standalone Modes

The blinder can operate without a DMX controller using its built-in programs or sound-activated mode. Access these modes via the control panel menu.

  • Auto Mode: Cycles through pre-programmed light sequences.
  • Sound Active Mode: The light reacts to ambient sound via the built-in microphone.
  • Manual Dimmer: Adjust the brightness of each LED directly from the menu.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your lightmaXX LED Blinder 2.

  • Cleaning: Disconnect the power before cleaning. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe the exterior. For stubborn dirt, a slightly damp cloth can be used. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Fan and Vent Cleaning: Periodically check and clean the cooling fan and ventilation openings to ensure proper airflow and prevent overheating. Use compressed air to remove dust.
  • Cable Inspection: Regularly inspect power and DMX cables for any signs of damage (cuts, frayed wires). Replace damaged cables immediately.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the fixture in a dry, dust-free environment, preferably in its original packaging or a suitable flight case.
