- First Use / Priming:
- Plug the machine into a grounded electrical outlet.
- Place a large cup under the portafilter (without coffee).
- Turn the control dial to the espresso symbol (coffee cup icon). Water will start to flow.
- Let approximately 200ml of water run through. This primes the pump and cleans the internal system.
- Turn the control dial to the "Off" position.
Operating Instructions
Making Espresso:
- Prepare Portafilter: Insert the desired filter basket into the portafilter. Add finely ground espresso coffee using the measuring scoop. Level the coffee and tamp it firmly.
- Attach Portafilter: Align the portafilter with the group head on the machine and twist it firmly to the right until it is securely locked.
- Place Cup: Place one or two espresso cups on the drip tray directly under the portafilter spouts.
- Brew Espresso: Ensure the water tank is filled. Turn the control dial to the espresso symbol (coffee cup icon). The machine will start brewing.
- Stop Brewing: Once the desired amount of espresso is dispensed (typically 25-30ml per shot), turn the control dial back to the "Off" position to stop the flow.
- Remove Portafilter: Carefully remove the portafilter by twisting it to the left. Discard the used coffee grounds.
Frothing Milk for Cappuccino/Latte:
- Prepare Milk: Fill a stainless steel frothing pitcher with cold milk (dairy or non-dairy) to just below the spout.
- Activate Steam: Turn the control dial to the steam symbol (steam icon). Wait for the steam indicator light to illuminate, indicating the machine has reached steaming temperature.
- Purge Steam Wand: Position the steam wand over the drip tray and briefly open the steam valve to release any condensed water. Close the valve.
- Froth Milk: Immerse the tip of the steam wand just below the surface of the milk. Open the steam valve. Move the pitcher up and down gently to create foam.
- Heat Milk: Once desired foam is achieved, immerse the wand deeper into the milk to heat it to the desired temperature (around 60-70°C).
- Stop Steaming: Close the steam valve and turn the control dial back to the "Off" position.
- Clean Steam Wand: Immediately wipe the steam wand with a damp cloth to prevent milk residue from drying. Briefly open the steam valve again to clear any internal milk.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Regular cleaning ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your coffee machine.
- Daily Cleaning:
- Empty and rinse the drip tray and water tank.
- Clean the portafilter and filter basket after each use.
- Wipe down the exterior of the machine with a damp cloth.
- Clean the steam wand immediately after frothing milk.
- Descaling:
Depending on water hardness and usage, descaling should be performed every 2-3 months. Use a commercial descaling solution suitable for coffee machines and follow the manufacturer's instructions. Always rinse the machine thoroughly with several tanks of fresh water after descaling.
- Filter Basket Cleaning: Periodically soak the filter baskets in a coffee machine cleaner to remove oil buildup.
