Setup
1. Physical Placement
Proper placement of your studio monitor is crucial for accurate sound reproduction. The IN-8 V2 is designed with a front-facing port tube, allowing it to be placed closer to walls without significant bass buildup. Consider the following:
- Listening Position: Position the monitor so that the tweeter is at ear level when you are in your primary listening position.
- Equilateral Triangle: Form an equilateral triangle between the two monitors and your listening position.
- Boundary Compensation: The IN-8 V2 includes Boundary Compensation EQ settings on the rear panel to optimize performance based on its proximity to walls or corners. Refer to the rear panel diagram for recommended switch settings.

2. Connections
The IN-8 V2 offers versatile input options for various audio sources:
- XLR Input: For balanced professional audio equipment (+4 dBu).
- TRS Input: For balanced or unbalanced audio sources (+4 dBu).
- RCA Input: For unbalanced consumer audio equipment (-10 dBV).
Connect your audio source to the appropriate input on the rear panel of the monitor. Ensure all connections are secure before powering on the unit.

3. EQ Settings
The rear panel features a series of DIP switches for adjusting the monitor's frequency response to suit your room acoustics and placement. These Boundary Compensation settings help achieve a flat and accurate response in various environments.
- Consult the printed diagram on the rear panel of the monitor for recommended switch configurations based on your monitor's placement (e.g., on stands, on a desk, near a wall, in a corner).
- Adjust the LF Trim and HF Trim switches to fine-tune the low and high frequencies according to your preference or room characteristics.
Operating
1. Power On/Off
Connect the power cable to the monitor and a suitable power outlet. Use the power switch on the rear panel to turn the monitor on or off. A blue LED indicator on the front panel will illuminate when the monitor is powered on.
2. Volume Control
Adjust the volume knob on the rear panel to set the desired listening level. Start with a low volume and gradually increase it to a comfortable level.
3. Understanding the 3-way Design
The IN-8 V2 utilizes a 3-way design for superior clarity and detail:
- Woofer (8-inch): Handles low frequencies, providing deep and accurate bass response.
- Midrange Driver (4-inch): Dedicated to mid-range frequencies, crucial for vocal and instrumental clarity.
- Tweeter (1-inch Coaxial): Reproduces high frequencies with precision and detail.

Maintenance
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the monitor. Do not use liquid cleaners or solvents.
- Dust: Regularly dust the drivers and ports to prevent accumulation that could affect sound quality.
- Storage: If storing the monitor for an extended period, ensure it is in a dry, temperature-controlled environment, preferably in its original packaging.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No Sound | Power cable disconnected, volume too low, incorrect input selected, audio source issue. | Check power connection, increase volume, verify input selection, test audio source. |
| Distorted Sound | Input signal too high, damaged cable, monitor placed too close to a boundary. | Reduce input level, replace cable, adjust Boundary Compensation EQ, reposition monitor. |
| Humming/Buzzing Noise | Ground loop, interference from other electronics, faulty cable. | Ensure proper grounding, move away from interference sources, try different cables. |
