Maintenance
Checking Ink Levels
Visually inspect the ink tanks on the front of the printer to check current ink levels. You can also check ink levels through the Epson Smart Panel app or the printer status monitor on your computer.
Refilling Ink Tanks
When an ink tank is low, refill it using genuine Epson T544 ink bottles. Refer to the "Filling the Ink Tanks" section under Setup for detailed instructions. Always use the correct color ink for each tank.
Print Head Cleaning
If print quality declines (e.g., missing lines, faded prints), perform a print head cleaning. This can be done through the printer's utility software on your computer or via the Epson Smart Panel app. This process clears clogged nozzles.
Nozzle Check
Before performing a print head cleaning, run a nozzle check to confirm if cleaning is necessary. This prints a pattern that shows if any nozzles are clogged.
Cleaning the Printer
Regularly wipe the exterior of the printer with a soft, damp cloth. For the scanner glass, use a lint-free cloth and a non-abrasive glass cleaner. Avoid spraying cleaner directly onto the glass.
Troubleshooting
Common Issues and Solutions
- Printer not responding:
Ensure the printer is powered on and connected correctly (USB or Wi-Fi). Check for error messages on the printer's control panel or computer. Restart both the printer and the computer.
- Poor print quality:
Perform a nozzle check and then a print head cleaning if necessary. Ensure genuine Epson ink is used and ink tanks are not empty. Check paper type settings in the print driver.
- Paper jams:
Turn off the printer and carefully remove any jammed paper from the paper tray, output tray, or inside the printer. Ensure paper is loaded correctly and not creased or curled.
- Wi-Fi connection issues:
Verify your Wi-Fi network is active and the printer is within range of the router. Re-run the wireless setup utility. Ensure your router's firmware is up to date.
- Scanner not working:
Ensure the printer is connected and drivers are installed. Check if the scanner glass is clean. Restart the scanning application and the printer.
Error Indicators
Refer to the printer's control panel lights and messages for specific error codes or indicators. Consult the Epson support website for a comprehensive list of error codes and their solutions.
