  • Power Cord (NEMA 5-15P, 1.5m): Connects the UPS to a wall outlet.
  • Battery Backup & Surge Protected Outlets (x6): Provide power from the UPS battery during outages and protect against surges.
  • Surge Protection Only Outlets (x2): Protect against surges but do not provide battery backup.
  • Circuit Breaker: Resettable overload protection.
  • USB Port: For connecting to a computer for power management software.
  • RJ11/RJ45 Ports (In/Out): For surge protection of telephone/network lines.

4. Setup and Installation

4.1 Unpacking and Placement

  • Carefully unpack the UPS and inspect for any shipping damage.
  • Place the UPS on a flat, stable surface in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated indoor area. Ensure adequate clearance around the unit for proper airflow.
  • Avoid placing the UPS near heat-emitting appliances or in direct sunlight.

4.2 Connecting to Power

  1. Plug the UPS power cord directly into a grounded 120V AC wall outlet. Do not use extension cords or surge protectors with the UPS input.
  2. Allow the UPS to charge for at least 8 hours before initial use to ensure optimal battery runtime. The battery charges whenever the UPS is connected to an AC outlet, regardless of whether the UPS is turned on or off.

4.3 Connecting Equipment

  • Battery Backup & Surge Protected Outlets: Connect critical equipment such as your computer, monitor, modem, router, and external hard drives to these outlets. These devices will receive power from the UPS battery during an outage.
  • Surge Protection Only Outlets: Connect non-critical peripherals like printers, scanners, or desk lamps to these outlets. These devices will be protected from surges but will lose power during an outage.
  • USB Port: Connect the included USB cable from the UPS to your computer's USB port to enable power management software features.
  • RJ11/RJ45 Ports: For surge protection of telephone or network lines, connect your incoming line to the "IN" port and your device to the "OUT" port.

5. Operation

5.1 Turning the UPS On/Off

  • To Turn On: Press and hold the power button for approximately 2 seconds until you hear a beep and the LCD display illuminates.
  • To Turn Off: Press and hold the power button for approximately 2 seconds until the LCD display turns off.

5.2 LCD Display Information

The intelligent LCD provides real-time status updates:

  • Input Voltage (VAC): Displays the incoming utility power voltage.
  • Output Voltage (VAC): Displays the voltage supplied by the UPS to connected devices.
  • Battery Level: Indicates the current charge level of the internal battery.
  • Load Level: Shows the percentage of the UPS's capacity being used by connected equipment.
  • The display backlight will automatically turn off after 30 seconds of inactivity when the UPS is powered on and connected to AC. Touch the power button briefly to reactivate the backlight.

5.3 Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR)

The UPS features Automatic Voltage Regulation (AVR) to protect connected devices by stabilizing incoming voltage levels. It automatically corrects minor voltage fluctuations (sags and surges) without switching to battery power, thus preserving battery life.

5.4 Alarm Silence Function

When the UPS is operating on battery power, it will emit a beeping sound every 6-10 seconds to indicate it is in battery mode. To silence this alarm, briefly press the power button. The LCD display will show a silent state icon. The alarm will resume continuously when the battery is critically low, indicating impending shutdown.

5.5 Power Management Software

The UPS supports free management software that allows for unattended system shutdown and advanced power management. Connect the UPS to your computer via the USB port. For software download and installation instructions, please refer to the official SKE SMART KEY ENERGY website. This software enables monitoring of UPS status, configuration of shutdown parameters, and reception of alerts.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Battery Care

  • To maintain optimal battery life, keep the UPS connected to an AC outlet at all times.
  • If the UPS is stored for an extended period, recharge the battery every three months for at least 8 hours to prevent permanent battery damage.
  • Battery life is typically 3-5 years, depending on usage and environmental conditions.

6.2 Cleaning

Periodically clean the exterior of the UPS with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners. Ensure ventilation openings are free from dust and debris.
