5. Setup
Follow these steps to set up your soldering station:
- Unpack Components: Carefully remove all items from the packaging and verify against the package contents list.
- Position the Station: Place the soldering station on a stable, heat-resistant, and well-ventilated surface.
- Install Helping Hands: Insert the flexible arms of the helping hands into the designated ports on the station. Turn to secure them in place, then tighten the locking nuts. These can be positioned as needed to hold your workpiece.
- Attach Solder Spool Holder: Mount the solder spool holder to either the left or right side of the station using the provided screws. Place your solder wire spool onto the holder.
- Prepare Cleaning Tools: Ensure the cleaning sponge is slightly dampened (not soaking wet) and placed in its slot. The brass wool tip cleaner should be in its designated area.
- Connect Soldering Iron: Plug the soldering iron cable securely into the corresponding port on the front of the soldering station.
- Connect Power: Plug the power cord into the back of the station, then into a grounded 230V AC outlet.

6. Operating Instructions
This section details how to operate your YIHUA 926LED-IV Soldering Station.
6.1 Power On and Temperature Adjustment
- Flip the power switch to the 'ON' position. The digital display will illuminate, showing the current tip temperature.
- Rotate the control knob to set your desired temperature. The temperature range is 90°C to 480°C. The display will show the set temperature briefly, then return to the real-time temperature.
- Allow the iron to heat up. The 60W ceramic element ensures rapid heating.
6.2 Temperature Lock Function
To prevent accidental temperature changes during a soldering task:
- Set your desired temperature using the control knob.
- Press the 'Temp. Locking Button' (usually indicated by a lock icon). The display may show 'OPN' (Open) or 'LOC' (Locked) briefly. Once locked, rotating the knob will not change the temperature.
- To unlock, press the 'Temp. Locking Button' again.
6.3 Sleep Mode
The sleep mode feature conserves energy and extends tip life by reducing the tip temperature to 200°C after a period of inactivity.
- The sleep timer can be adjusted to 5, 10, 30 minutes, or turned OFF. Refer to the station's menu or specific button for sleep mode settings.
- When the iron is in sleep mode, simply pick it up or move it slightly to reactivate it to the set working temperature.

Figure 6.1: The soldering station automatically enters sleep mode to reduce tip wear.
6.4 Digital Temperature Calibration
For maximum accuracy, you can calibrate the displayed temperature to match the actual tip temperature.
- Use a professional thermometer with a physical thermocouple to measure the actual temperature of the soldering iron tip.
- Access the calibration function on the soldering station (refer to the specific button or menu option, often labeled 'CAL').
- Adjust the displayed temperature value on the station to match the reading from your professional thermometer.

6.5 Basic Soldering Technique
While this manual focuses on the station's operation, here are basic steps for soldering:
- Ensure the soldering iron tip is clean and tinned (coated with a thin layer of solder).
- Heat the joint: Apply the hot soldering iron tip to both the component lead and the PCB pad simultaneously.
- Apply solder: After a second or two, touch the solder wire to the heated joint (not directly to the iron tip). The solder should flow smoothly and quickly around the joint.
- Remove solder and iron: Remove the solder wire first, then the soldering iron. Allow the joint to cool naturally without disturbance.

7. Maintenance
Proper maintenance ensures the longevity and performance of your soldering station.
7.1 Soldering Tip Care
- Clean Regularly: During operation, wipe the tip on the brass wool cleaner or damp sponge frequently to remove excess solder and oxidation.
- Tinning: Always keep the tip tinned with a thin layer of solder, especially before storing the iron. This prevents oxidation and extends tip life.
- Avoid Excessive Force: Do not scrape or file the tip, as this can damage the plating.
- Replace Worn Tips: Replace tips when they become pitted, corroded, or no longer hold solder effectively. This model uses YIHUA 900M series tips.
7.2 Station Cleaning
- Ensure the unit is unplugged and cool before cleaning.
- Wipe the exterior of the station with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Periodically clean the brass wool and replace the cleaning sponge as needed.

8. Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your soldering station.
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Soldering iron not heating up or heating slowly. | Power switch off, loose connection, faulty heating element, heavily oxidized tip. | Ensure power switch is ON. Check all cable connections. Clean and re-tin the tip. If problem persists, contact support. |
| Temperature display is inaccurate. | Needs calibration. | Perform digital temperature calibration using a professional thermometer (refer to Section 6.4). |
| Solder does not flow well or forms cold joints. | Insufficient temperature, dirty/oxidized tip, incorrect soldering technique. | Increase temperature. Clean and re-tin the tip. Review basic soldering technique (Section 6.5). |
| Iron enters sleep mode too quickly/slowly. | Sleep timer setting is incorrect. | Adjust the sleep mode timer settings (5/10/30 minutes or OFF). |
| Helping hands are loose. | Locking nuts not tightened. | Ensure the locking nuts on the helping hands are fully tightened after positioning. |
