4. Setup

Before installation, ensure your smartphone is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. The sensors do not support 5 GHz networks.

  1. Download the App: Search for and download the Merkury Innovations or Geeni app from your device's app store (iOS or Android).
  2. Create an Account: Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to create a new user account or log in if you already have one.
  3. Add Device: In the app, tap the '+' icon or 'Add Device' to begin the pairing process. Select 'Sensor' or 'Door/Window Sensor' from the list of device types.
  4. Power On Sensor: Insert the CR2-3V battery into the sensor. The sensor's indicator light should begin to flash, indicating it is in pairing mode.
  5. Connect to Wi-Fi: Follow the app's instructions to connect the sensor to your home's 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network. You may need to confirm your Wi-Fi password.
  6. Pairing Confirmation: Once successfully paired, the indicator light on the sensor will stop flashing, and the app will confirm the device has been added. You can then name your sensor (e.g., "Front Door," "Bedroom Window").

5. Installation

The sensors consist of two parts: a main unit and a smaller magnetic contact. For proper function, these two parts must be installed within 1 cm (0.4 inches) of each other when the door or window is closed.

Battery Installation

The sensor uses a CR2-3V battery. To install or replace the battery:

  1. Gently slide open the back cover of the main sensor unit.
  2. Insert the CR2-3V battery, ensuring the positive (+) and negative (-) terminals are correctly aligned as indicated inside the battery compartment.
  3. Close the back cover securely.

Mounting Options

You can mount the sensors using either the included 3M adhesive strips or screws and wall anchors.

  1. Choose Location: Identify a clean, dry surface on your door/window frame and the corresponding moving part (door/window itself).
  2. Positioning: Place the main sensor unit on the fixed frame and the magnetic contact on the moving part. Ensure they are aligned and within 1 cm (0.4 inches) of each other when the door/window is closed.
  3. Adhesive Mounting: Peel the backing from the 3M adhesive strips and firmly press the sensors onto the desired surfaces for at least 30 seconds.
  4. Screw Mounting: For a more permanent installation, use the provided screws and wall anchors. Mark the screw holes, drill pilot holes if necessary, insert anchors, and then secure the sensors with screws.

6. Operating Instructions

Once installed and connected, your Merkury Innovations Smart Door and Window Sensors are ready to provide security and automation.

Receiving Alerts

When the door or window is opened, separating the main sensor unit from the magnetic contact, the sensor will detect the change in state. An instant push notification will be sent to your smartphone via the Merkury Innovations or Geeni app.

7. Maintenance

Battery Replacement

The sensors are designed for long battery life (up to 2 years under optimal conditions). When the battery level is low, you may receive a notification in the app. Replace the battery as described in the "Battery Installation" section (Section 5).

Note: Battery life can vary significantly based on Wi-Fi signal strength, frequency of sensor triggers, and environmental factors. Ensure the sensor is within good Wi-Fi range to optimize battery performance.

Cleaning

To clean the sensors, gently wipe them with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, solvents, or expose them to excessive moisture.
