3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

The TIRETEK Digital Tire Pressure Gauge requires 2 AAA batteries (often included). To install or replace batteries:

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the gauge, typically covered by a rubber cap.
  2. Carefully remove the rubber cap to expose the battery slots.
  3. Insert 2 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Replace the rubber cap securely to protect the batteries and internal components from moisture and dust.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Taking a Tire Pressure Reading

  1. Ensure the tire is cold (driven less than a mile or not driven for at least three hours).
  2. Remove the valve cap from the tire valve stem.
  3. Press the ON button to power on the gauge. The display will show "0.0" or a similar zero reading. If not, press the ON button again to zero the reading.
  4. Firmly press the gauge's nozzle onto the tire valve stem. You may hear a slight hiss of air; this is normal. Maintain a tight seal to prevent air leakage.
  5. The digital display will show the tire pressure reading. The gauge will hold this reading even after removing it from the valve stem.
  6. Remove the gauge from the valve stem and replace the valve cap.
  7. To turn off the gauge, press and hold the ON button for a few seconds, or it will automatically shut off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life.

4.2 Changing Measurement Units

The gauge supports multiple measurement units (PSI, BAR, KPA, KG/CM²). To cycle through the units:

  • With the gauge powered on, press the UNITS button.
  • Each press will cycle to the next available unit. Select your desired unit before taking a reading.

4.3 Using the Bleeder Valve

The integrated bleeder valve allows for precise pressure adjustment if a tire is over-inflated.

  • While the gauge is connected to the tire valve and displaying a reading, gently press the bleeder valve button (small button near the base of the gauge).
  • Air will be released, and the pressure reading on the display will decrease. Release the button when the desired pressure is reached.

5. Maintenance and Care

  • Cleaning: Wipe the gauge with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit in water.
  • Storage: Store the gauge in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Battery Replacement: If the display becomes dim or the gauge does not power on, replace the batteries as described in the Setup section. Remove batteries if storing for extended periods to prevent leakage.
  • Nozzle Care: Keep the nozzle clean and free of debris to ensure a proper seal with the tire valve.

6. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Gauge does not power on.Dead or incorrectly installed batteries.Check battery polarity or replace with new AAA batteries.
Inaccurate or inconsistent readings.Poor seal with valve stem; gauge not zeroed; extreme temperature changes.Ensure firm, straight connection to valve. Press ON button to zero before use. Allow gauge to acclimate to ambient temperature.
Air leaks when taking a reading.Improper connection to valve stem; worn valve core.Press the nozzle firmly and squarely onto the valve stem. If leakage persists, the tire valve core may need inspection or replacement.
Display is dim or flickering.Low battery power.Replace batteries.
