Maintenance
- Cleaning: Wipe the main unit with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Ensure the device is dry before storage.
- Probe Care: Clean probes after each use, especially when measuring different substances, to prevent cross-contamination and ensure accuracy. Allow hot probes to cool before cleaning.
- Storage: Store the thermometer and probes in the protective carrying case in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
- Battery Replacement: Replace the 9V battery when the low battery indicator appears on the display to ensure continuous accurate operation.
- Probe Replacement: K-type thermocouples are consumable items and may degrade over time, especially with frequent use at high temperatures. Replace probes if they show signs of damage or provide inconsistent readings. Any standard K-Type thermocouple connectors can be used for replacement.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No display/Device won't turn on | Dead or incorrectly installed battery. | Check battery polarity. Replace with a new 9V battery. |
| Inaccurate readings | Loose probe connection, damaged probe, incorrect probe type, or probe not fully inserted into the medium. | Ensure probes are securely connected. Inspect probes for damage and replace if necessary. Verify the probe is suitable for the temperature range. Ensure proper immersion. |
| "OL" or "---" on display | Temperature is outside the measurement range of the probe or the device. Open circuit in the probe. | Ensure the temperature is within the specified range. Check probe for breaks or damage. Replace probe if faulty. |
| Display freezes (not in HOLD mode) | Temporary software glitch. | Turn the device off and then on again. If the issue persists, remove and reinsert the battery. |
