Key Controls:

• Shutter Speed Dial: Located on the top right, allows direct control over shutter speed.

Setup

1. Charging the Battery

Before first use, fully charge the supplied EN-EL25 Li-ion battery using the provided battery charger. Insert the battery into the charger, ensuring correct orientation, and plug the charger into a power outlet. The charging indicator will show the charging status.

2. Inserting the Battery and Memory Card

1. Open the battery chamber cover on the bottom of the camera.
2. Insert the charged battery, ensuring it clicks into place.
3. Open the memory card slot cover.
4. Insert a compatible SD card (UHS-I or higher recommended) into the slot until it clicks. Ensure the card is facing the correct direction.
5. Close both covers securely.

3. Attaching the Lens

1. Remove the body cap from the camera and the rear lens cap from the NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR lens.
2. Align the mounting mark on the lens with the mounting mark on the camera body.
3. Rotate the lens counter-clockwise until it clicks into place.
4. Remove the front lens cap.

4. Initial Settings

Turn the camera on using the power switch. Follow the on-screen prompts to set the language, date, time, and time zone. These settings are crucial for proper image metadata.

Operating the Camera

Shooting Modes

The Z fc offers various shooting modes to suit different photographic situations:

• AUTO: Fully automatic mode for point-and-shoot simplicity.
• P (Programmed Auto): Camera sets shutter speed and aperture for optimal exposure.
• S (Shutter-Priority Auto): You set the shutter speed, camera sets aperture. Ideal for controlling motion blur.
• A (Aperture-Priority Auto): You set the aperture, camera sets shutter speed. Ideal for controlling depth of field.
• M (Manual): You control both shutter speed and aperture.

Focusing

The camera features a fast and accurate autofocus system:

• Autofocus (AF): The camera automatically focuses on your subject.
• Continuous-Servo AF (AF-C): Ideal for moving subjects, as the camera continuously adjusts focus.
• Eye-Detection AF: Automatically detects and focuses on human or animal eyes, ensuring sharp portraits.

Video Recording

To record video:

1. Set the photo/video selector switch to the video camera icon.
2. Press the red record button to start and stop recording.
3. The Z fc supports 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) video resolution.

Connecting to Smart Devices (SnapBridge)

The Nikon Z fc can connect to your smartphone or tablet via Wi-Fi and Bluetooth using the Nikon SnapBridge app:

1. Download and install the Nikon SnapBridge app on your smart device.
2. Enable Bluetooth on both your camera and smart device.

Maintenance
