4.2 Plugging in the Receiver

Plug the SC-R16 Receiver into a standard 100-240VAC wall outlet. The receiver will power on automatically.

The call button and receiver are usually pre-paired from the factory. If re-pairing is needed or if you are adding additional call buttons, follow these general steps:

  1. Ensure the receiver is plugged in and powered on.
  2. On the receiver, locate the 'Register' button (often labeled 'Initialize' or 'Register'). Press and hold this button until the indicator light on the receiver starts flashing or a specific sound is heard, indicating it is in pairing mode.
  3. While the receiver is in pairing mode, press the main call button on the APE160 Call Button. The receiver should emit a confirmation sound or the light will stop flashing, indicating successful pairing.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Battery Replacement (APE160 Call Button)

When the call button's signal strength weakens or it fails to activate the receiver, it may be time to replace the 12V 23A alkaline battery. To replace:

  1. Carefully open the back casing of the APE160 Call Button.
  2. Remove the old battery.
  3. Insert a new 12V 23A alkaline battery, ensuring correct polarity.
  4. Close the casing securely.
  5. Test the call button with the receiver to confirm functionality.

6.2 Cleaning

Wipe both the receiver and call button with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse either unit in water. The call button is designed to be waterproof, but excessive exposure to water should be avoided to prolong its lifespan.

6.3 Environmental Considerations

The APE160 Call Button is designed with features for sun-protection, dustproof, and shockproof capabilities, making it suitable for various indoor and limited outdoor environments. However, avoid exposing the receiver to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight for prolonged periods, or high humidity.

7. Troubleshooting

  • No Alert from Receiver:
    • Ensure the SC-R16 Receiver is securely plugged into a working power outlet.
    • Check the battery in the APE160 Call Button. Replace if necessary.
    • Verify that the call button is within the effective range of the receiver. Obstacles like thick walls or large metal objects can reduce range.
    • Re-pair the call button with the receiver following the instructions in Section 4.3.
  • Receiver Alarms Continuously or Falsely:
    • Press the 'Cancel' button on the receiver to stop the alarm.
    • Ensure the call button is not being accidentally pressed.
    • Check for potential sources of radio interference nearby.
  • Short Range:
    • Relocate the receiver to a more central position or higher elevation.
    • Ensure the receiver's external antenna is fully extended and unobstructed.
    • Replace the call button battery.
