4. Operating the DJI Air 2S
4.1 Flight Characteristics
The DJI Air 2S offers a stable and reliable flight experience. It utilizes DJI's advanced O3 (OcuSync 3.0) image transmission technology, providing an ultra-smooth, clear, and reliable image feed up to 7.5 miles (12 km) away. The drone has a maximum flight time of 31 minutes per Intelligent Flight Battery.
4.2 Imaging Features
Equipped with a 1-inch CMOS sensor and large 2.4μm pixels, the DJI Air 2S captures high-quality visuals. It supports 5.4K/30fps and 4K/60fps video recording. The 10-bit Dlog-M color profile can record up to one billion colors, retaining fine details. The included ND Filters Set (ND4/8/16/32) helps manage exposure in various lighting conditions.
4.3 Intelligent Flight Modes
- MasterShots: An advanced intelligent feature that automatically executes complex flight maneuvers and records short cinematic video sequences with a single tap.
- FocusTrack: Includes Spotlight 2.0, ActiveTrack 4.0, and Point of Interest 3.0, allowing the drone to follow or circle a subject while keeping it in the frame. Note: FocusTrack is not available while recording in 5.4K/30fps, 5.4K/25fps, 5.4K/24fps, 4K/60fps, 4K/50fps, 4K/48fps, 2.7K/60fps, 2.7K/50fps, 2.7K/48fps, 1080p/120fps, 1080p/60fps, 1080p/50fps, and 1080p/48fps. It is also not available when shooting 5.4K video.
4.4 Safety Features
- Obstacle Sensing: The drone perceives its environment in four directions (up, down, forward, and backward) to actively avoid obstacles, even in complex scenarios and at high speeds.
- APAS 4.0: Advanced Pilot Assistance System helps the drone autonomously navigate around obstacles. Note: APAS 4.0 is not available while recording in 5.4K/30fps, 5.4K/25fps, 5.4K/24fps, 4K/60fps, 4K/50fps, 4K/48fps, 2.7K/60fps, 2.7K/50fps, 2.7K/48fps, 1080p/120fps.
- ADS-B (AirSense): Receives signals from nearby aircraft and alerts the pilot via the DJI Fly app, enhancing airspace safety.
- Return to Home (RTH): Automatically returns the drone to its takeoff point if the battery is low or the connection is lost.
- Geo-fencing: Prevents the drone from flying into restricted airspace zones.
5. Maintenance
5.1 Battery Care
For optimal battery life, store Intelligent Flight Batteries at approximately 60% charge when not in use for extended periods. Avoid fully discharging or overcharging batteries. Always use official DJI charging equipment.
5.2 Gimbal and Camera Protection
Always attach the Gimbal Protector when transporting the drone to prevent damage to the camera and gimbal system.
5.3 Propeller Inspection
Regularly inspect propellers for any signs of damage, cracks, or bends. Replace damaged propellers immediately using the provided spare propellers to ensure safe and stable flight.
6. Troubleshooting
6.1 Drone Not Activating
Ensure your Smart Controller is connected to the internet and the DJI Fly app is up to date. Follow the on-screen prompts carefully during the activation process.
6.2 Loss of Signal
If the drone loses connection with the Smart Controller, it will automatically initiate the Return to Home (RTH) function. Ensure you maintain visual line of sight with the drone whenever possible and avoid flying in areas with strong interference.
6.3 Obstacle Avoidance Issues
Ensure all vision sensors on the drone are clean and unobstructed. Avoid flying in extremely complex or dense environments at high speeds where sensor performance might be limited. Remember that APAS 4.0 has limitations in certain video recording modes.
