User Manual

1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the Alecto WS-55 Thermometer / Hygrometer. This device is designed to accurately measure and display both temperature and humidity levels in your indoor environment. Please read this manual carefully before using the device to ensure proper operation and to maximize its lifespan.

2. Important Safety Instructions

  • Do not expose the device to extreme temperatures, direct sunlight, or high humidity.
  • Avoid dropping the device or subjecting it to strong impacts.
  • Do not attempt to disassemble or modify the device. This will void the warranty.
  • Keep batteries out of reach of children. If swallowed, seek immediate medical attention.
  • Dispose of used batteries and the device according to local regulations.
  • Clean the device only with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

4.1. Display Layout

  • Temperature Display: Shows the current temperature in Celsius (°C) or Fahrenheit (°F).
  • Humidity Display: Shows the current relative humidity (RH) in percentage (%).
  • Comfort Indicator: A small icon (e.g., smiley face) indicating the comfort level based on temperature and humidity.

4.2. Buttons and Features

  • °C/°F Button: Located on the back, used to switch between Celsius and Fahrenheit temperature units.
  • MAX/MIN Button: Located on the back, used to display maximum and minimum recorded temperature and humidity.
  • Wall Mount Hole: For hanging the device on a wall.
  • Foldable Kickstand: For tabletop placement.

5. Setup

5.1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Slide the cover open.
  3. Insert the required batteries (e.g., 1x AAA) according to the polarity indicators (+ and -) inside the compartment.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.
  5. The display should now light up, showing current temperature and humidity readings.

Its compact size allows for easy portability and placement on any flat surface using the kickstand.

For accurate readings, place the Alecto WS-55 in a location that is:

  • Away from direct sunlight or heat sources (e.g., radiators, ovens).
  • Away from direct drafts or vents (e.g., air conditioners, open windows).
  • In a central location of the room where you want to monitor conditions.
  • On a flat, stable surface using the kickstand, or mounted on a wall using a suitable screw/nail.

6. Operating the Device

6.1. Reading the Display

Once batteries are installed, the device will immediately begin displaying the current temperature and humidity. The top large digits show the temperature, and the bottom large digits show the relative humidity.

6.2. Switching Temperature Units (°C/°F)

To switch between Celsius (°C) and Fahrenheit (°F):

  • Locate the "°C/°F" button on the back of the device.
  • Press the button once to toggle between the two units. The display will update instantly.

6.3. Viewing MAX/MIN Readings

The device records the maximum and minimum temperature and humidity values since the last reset. To view these values:

  • Locate the "MAX/MIN" button on the back of the device.
  • Press the button once to display the maximum recorded temperature and humidity.
  • Press the button again to display the minimum recorded temperature and humidity.
  • Press it a third time to return to the current readings.

6.4. Resetting MAX/MIN Readings

To clear the recorded maximum and minimum values:

  • While viewing the MAX or MIN readings, press and hold the "MAX/MIN" button for approximately 3 seconds.
  • The display will flash, and the MAX/MIN values will reset to the current readings.

7. Maintenance

7.1. Cleaning

To clean the device:

  • Wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners, alcohol, or other chemical solvents, as these may damage the display or casing.

7.2. Battery Replacement

When the display becomes dim or the readings are inconsistent, it's time to replace the batteries. Follow the steps in Section 5.1 "Battery Installation" to replace the old batteries with new ones.

Note: Always replace all batteries at the same time with new ones of the same type.
