Setup & Installation

Proper installation is crucial for the performance of your SMH5-FM unit. Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Choose Mounting Method: Decide between the Clamp Unit or the Glued Surface Mounting Plate based on your helmet type and preference. The Clamp Unit is generally recommended for helmets with a suitable edge, while the Glued Surface Mounting Plate is for helmets without a suitable clamp area.
  2. Install Main Unit: Securely attach the Headset Main Unit to your chosen mounting method on the left side of your helmet. Ensure it is firmly in place.
  3. Speaker Placement: Position the speakers inside the helmet's ear pockets. Use the provided Hook and Loop Fasteners and Speaker Pads to ensure the speakers are centered over your ears for optimal audio quality.
  4. Microphone Installation:
    • For open-face or modular helmets, use the Boom Microphone. Attach it to the inside of the helmet, ensuring the microphone is positioned approximately 1-2 cm from your mouth.
    • For full-face helmets, use the Wired Microphone. Secure it to the inside of the chin bar using the provided Hook and Loop Fasteners.
  5. Cable Management: Route all cables neatly within the helmet lining to prevent interference and ensure comfort. Connect the speaker and microphone cables to the main unit.
