Setup

1. Battery Installation

The CATIGA CD-2837 calculator is powered by batteries. Before first use, or when the display becomes dim, new batteries must be installed.

  1. Turn the calculator over to access the battery compartment on the back.
  2. Using a small screwdriver, carefully open the battery compartment cover.

2. Initial Power On

Press the ON button located on the front panel to turn on the calculator. The LCD display should illuminate and show '0'.

Basic Operations

  • Power ON/OFF: Press ON to turn on. Press OFF to turn off.
  • Clear All: Press AC to clear all entries and reset the calculator.
  • Clear Entry: Press C-CE to clear the last entered number.
  • Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication, Division: Enter the first number, press the desired operator (+, -, x, ÷), enter the second number, then press = for the result.
  • Decimal Point: Use the . button for decimal numbers.
  • Double Zero: Use the 00 button for quick entry of two zeros.

Advanced Functions

  • Memory Functions (M+, M-, MRC):
    • M+: Adds the displayed value to the memory.
    • M-: Subtracts the displayed value from the memory.
    • MRC: Press once to recall the memory value. Press twice to clear the memory.
  • Grand Total (GT): Displays the grand total of all calculations performed since the last AC press.
  • Percentage (%): Used for percentage calculations. Example: 100 x 10 % = 10.
  • Square Root (√): Calculates the square root of the displayed number.
  • Sign Change (+/-): Changes the sign of the displayed number from positive to negative or vice versa.
  • Tax Calculation (TAX+, TAX-):
    • SET: Used to set the tax rate. Press SET, enter the tax rate (e.g., 5 for 5%), then press SET again.
    • TAX+: Adds the set tax rate to the displayed number.
    • TAX-: Subtracts the set tax rate from the displayed number.
  • Check & Correct (AUTO REPLAY, CORRECT, ←, →): This feature allows reviewing and correcting up to 120 calculation steps.
    • AUTO REPLAY: Plays back all entered calculation steps automatically.
    • ← / →: Use these arrow keys to manually scroll through previous calculation steps.
    • CORRECT: While reviewing steps, press CORRECT to modify a specific step. Enter the new value and continue the calculation.
  • Rounding and Decimal Settings (UP 5/4 CUT, F 4 2 0 ADD2): These switches are located above the main keypad and control how numbers are rounded and the number of decimal places displayed.
    • UP: Rounds up.
    • 5/4: Rounds to the nearest digit (standard rounding).
    • CUT: Truncates (cuts off) decimal places without rounding.
    • F: Floating decimal point.
    • 4, 2, 0: Fixed decimal places (4, 2, or 0).
    • ADD2: Adds two decimal places automatically for currency calculations.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the calculator's exterior. Do not use liquid cleaners, abrasive pads, or chemical solvents, as these can damage the display or casing.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries promptly when the display becomes faint or the calculator stops functioning. Refer to the 'Battery Installation' section under Setup. Dispose of old batteries according to local regulations.
  • Storage: Store the calculator in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, extreme temperatures, and high humidity. If storing for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
  • Avoid Impact: Do not drop the calculator or subject it to strong impacts, as this can damage internal components or the display.
