4. Setup and Installation
The Comelit Ciao-Mini kit utilizes a 2-wire analog system for simplified wiring.
4.1 Pre-installation Checks
- Ensure the installation location is suitable for both indoor and outdoor units.
- Verify that the existing wiring (if any) is compatible with a 2-wire analog system.
- Gather necessary tools: drill, screwdriver, wire strippers, level, pencil.
4.2 Mounting the Outdoor Door Station
The outdoor unit (Art. CA0061) can be surface-mounted or flush-mounted. Choose a location near the entrance, at a height that allows comfortable use for all users.
- Mark the drilling points on the wall using the mounting template or the unit itself.
- Drill holes and insert wall plugs.
- Route the 2-wire cable from the indoor unit location to the outdoor unit.
- Connect the wires to the designated terminals on the outdoor unit (refer to the wiring diagram provided with the unit).
- Secure the outdoor unit to the wall using the provided screws.
- Insert the nameplate with the desired name (e.g., "JOHN SMITH") into the backlit slot.

4.3 Mounting the Indoor Handset
Choose a convenient location inside your home or office for the indoor handset (Art. 2812W).
- Mark the drilling points for the handset mounting bracket.
- Drill holes and insert wall plugs.
- Route the 2-wire cable from the outdoor unit location to the indoor handset.
- Connect the wires to the designated terminals on the indoor handset (refer to the wiring diagram).
- Secure the handset mounting bracket to the wall and attach the handset.
4.4 Wiring and Power Connection
The system operates on a 2-wire analog principle. Ensure correct polarity and secure connections.
- Connect the two main wires from the outdoor unit to the corresponding terminals on the indoor handset.
- Connect the power supply (cable electric) to the designated terminals on the indoor handset or power unit as per the wiring diagram.
- Once all connections are secure, restore power to the system.
4.5 System Expansion

5. Operation
5.1 Receiving a Call
When a visitor presses the call button on the outdoor door station, the indoor handset will ring.
5.2 Two-Way Communication
To speak with the visitor, lift the handset. You can then engage in a two-way conversation.
5.3 Door Opening Function
Press the dedicated door opening button on the indoor handset to unlock the connected electric door strike or gate. Ensure the door strike is compatible and correctly wired to the system.
5.4 Volume Control
The indoor handset features controls for adjusting the volume of the microphone, speaker, and ringtone. Locate the volume adjustment dials or buttons on the side or bottom of the handset and adjust to your preferred level.

The outdoor door station includes a backlit nameplate for clear visibility, especially in low-light conditions.
