Safety Information
Always read and understand the complete instruction manual before installing or using the car seat. Ensure the car seat is properly installed and your child is correctly secured in the harness for every ride. Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual for specific car seat installation instructions and LATCH system locations.
Setup and Installation
Installing the Stay-in-Car Base
The KeyFit 30 base is engineered for easy and secure installation using either the vehicle's LATCH system or seat belt.
1. Leveling the Base
Utilize the ReclineSure leveling foot and RideRight bubble level-indicators to achieve the proper recline angle for your infant in the vehicle seat. Adjust the leveling foot until the bubble is centered within the green zone.

2. Securing the Base with LATCH Connectors
Attach the premium LATCH connectors to your vehicle's lower anchors. Use the SuperCinch tightener to achieve a secure fit with minimal effort. Ensure the base does not move more than one inch side-to-side or front-to-back at the belt path.

3. Securing the Base with Vehicle Seat Belt
For vehicles without LATCH, or if preferred, route the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt through the designated belt path on the base. Utilize the integrated lock-offs to position, tighten, and lock the belt securely. Verify the base is installed tightly.
Attaching the Infant Carrier to the Base
Align the infant carrier with the installed base and lower it until it clicks securely into place. An audible click confirms proper attachment. Always check that the carrier is firmly seated by gently pulling upwards on the handle.

Operating the Infant Car Seat
Securing Your Infant
Place your infant in the car seat. Fasten the 5-point harness, ensuring the chest clip is at armpit level and the harness straps are snug against your child's body, with no slack. The one-pull tightening strap allows for easy adjustment.

Infant Head and Body Support
The car seat includes a removable infant head and body support insert designed for newborns as small as 4 lbs. Remove the insert when your child no longer requires it or exceeds the weight limit specified in the full manual.
Adjusting the Canopy
The adjustable, removable canopy provides shade from the sun. Adjust its position by pulling it forward or backward as needed.
Removing the Infant Carrier from the Base
To remove the carrier, locate the one-hand release handle, typically at the back of the carrier. Squeeze the handle and lift the carrier straight up from the base.

Maintenance
Cleaning the Seat Pad
The seat pad is machine washable for easy cleanup. Refer to the care instructions label on the seat pad for specific washing guidelines. Always allow the fabric to air dry completely before reattaching.
Cleaning the Harness and Buckle
Wipe the harness straps and buckle with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not machine wash or submerge the harness straps or buckle in water, as this may weaken them.
