4. Setup

The HOFTRONIC Odessa Solar Spotlights offer flexible installation options without the need for wiring.

4.1 Choosing a Location

Select a location where the solar panel can receive direct sunlight for at least 6-8 hours daily. Adequate sunlight exposure is crucial for optimal charging and performance, especially during winter months due to the monocrystalline solar panel technology.

4.2 Installation Methods

There are two primary methods for installing your solar spotlights:

1. Ground Installation: Attach the provided ground stake to the bottom of the solar spotlight. Firmly push the stake into soft ground in your desired location. Ensure the spotlight is stable and the solar panel faces upwards towards the sun.
2. Wall/Surface Mounting: For installation on a facade, wall, or pergola, use the provided screws and wall plugs. Mark the desired mounting points, drill pilot holes if necessary, insert wall plugs, and secure the spotlight using the screws.

5. Operation

The HOFTRONIC Odessa Solar Spotlights are equipped with an automatic light sensor and multiple operating modes.

5.1 Initial Activation and Charging

Before first use, ensure the spotlight is placed in direct sunlight for at least 4-6 hours to allow the internal battery to charge. The monocrystalline solar panel efficiently converts sunlight into energy, even in less ideal conditions.

5.2 Light Modes

The solar spotlight features a push-button switch to cycle through two light modes and turn off the device:

• Mode 1 (Dim Light): Press the ON/OFF button once to activate a dim light output.
• Mode 2 (Bright Light): Press the button a second time to activate the full 300 lumens bright light output.
• Off: Press the button a third time to turn the light off.

The spotlight will automatically turn on at dusk and off at dawn, based on the selected mode, as long as the battery has sufficient charge.

7. Troubleshooting

If your solar spotlight is not functioning as expected, consider the following:

• Light does not turn on at night:
  • Ensure the ON/OFF button is set to one of the light modes (not 'Off').
  • Verify the solar panel is receiving sufficient direct sunlight during the day. Relocate if necessary.
  • Clean the solar panel surface to remove any obstructions.
  • Check for any external light sources (e.g., streetlights) that might be activating the light sensor, preventing the spotlight from turning on.
• Light duration is short:
  • The battery may not be fully charged. Ensure the solar panel receives maximum direct sunlight for 4-6 hours.
  • Weather conditions (cloudy days, winter) can reduce charging efficiency.
  • Ensure the solar panel is clean.
• Light is dim:
  • Check if the spotlight is set to Mode 1 (dim light). Press the button again for Mode 2 (bright light).
