2. Pairing with Tuya App
To connect your sensor to the Tuya App and your ZigBee gateway:
- Ensure your ZigBee gateway is powered on and connected to the Tuya App.
- Open the Tuya App and navigate to your gateway.
- Select "Add devices" or "Search device" within the gateway settings.
- Press and hold the reset button on the main sensor unit for 5-10 seconds until the indicator light flashes rapidly, indicating pairing mode.
- The app will discover and add the device. Follow any on-screen prompts to complete the pairing process.
- Once paired, you can test the notification function within the app.
3. Physical Installation
The sensor is designed for easy installation using double-sided adhesive tape.
- Choose a clean, dry surface on your door or window frame.
- Attach the main sensor unit to the fixed part of the door/window frame.
- Attach the smaller magnetic strip to the moving part of the door/window, aligning it with the main unit's alignment mark. Ensure the gap between the two parts is minimal (ideally less than 10mm) when the door/window is closed.
- Press firmly for a few seconds to ensure secure adhesion.

Operation
Once installed and paired, the sensor operates automatically:
- When the door or window is closed, the main unit and magnetic strip are in close proximity, indicating a secure state.
- When the door or window is opened, the magnetic strip moves away from the main unit, triggering the sensor.
- Upon detection of an open state, the sensor sends a signal to your ZigBee gateway, which then relays a notification to your smartphone via the Tuya App.
- You can view the status (open/closed) and event history within the Tuya App.
- Integrate with Amazon Alexa or Google Home to receive voice alerts or include the sensor in smart home routines.
Maintenance
- Battery Replacement: When the battery is low, the sensor may indicate this via the app or a flashing light. Replace the CR2032 battery as described in the "Battery Installation" section.
- Cleaning: Wipe the sensor with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the device in water.
- Placement: Ensure the sensor remains securely attached and the alignment between the two parts is maintained for optimal performance.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Sensor not pairing with Tuya App. | Sensor not in pairing mode; ZigBee gateway offline; too far from gateway; low battery. | Ensure sensor is flashing rapidly (pairing mode). Check gateway connection. Move sensor closer to gateway. Replace battery. |
| No notifications received. | App notification permissions disabled; sensor not properly aligned; low battery. | Check Tuya App notification settings on your phone. Ensure sensor parts are aligned and close when closed. Replace battery. |
| Cannot trigger Alexa routines. | Compatibility issue with specific Alexa routine triggers. | Verify if the sensor's status changes are recognized by Alexa as triggers. Some ZigBee devices may have limited routine trigger capabilities depending on the hub and Alexa version. Consult Alexa support or community forums for specific device compatibility. |
| Sensor frequently disconnects. | Weak ZigBee signal; interference; low battery. | Move gateway closer to sensor or add ZigBee repeaters. Check for other wireless devices causing interference. Replace battery. |
