Initial Setup
Follow these steps to set up your Epson EcoTank ET-4850 printer for the first time.
Unpacking and Preparation
- Carefully remove the printer from its packaging.
- Remove all protective tapes and materials from the printer. Refer to the quick start guide for specific locations.
- Place the printer on a flat, stable surface.
Filling the Ink Tanks
The EcoTank ET-4850 uses high-capacity ink tanks that are easy to fill with the included ink bottles. The bottles are designed for spill-free filling, with unique keys for each color to prevent misfilling.

- Open the ink tank unit cover on the right side of the printer.
- Open the cap for the black (BK) ink tank.
- Unpack the black ink bottle. Twist off the cap.
- Insert the ink bottle into the filling port. The ink will automatically start to fill the tank. Do not squeeze the bottle.
- Once the ink tank is full, the ink flow will stop automatically. Remove the bottle and recap it.
- Repeat the process for the Cyan (C), Magenta (M), and Yellow (Y) ink tanks, ensuring to match the correct color bottle to the corresponding tank.
- Close all ink tank caps and the ink tank unit cover.
Power On and Initial Configuration
After filling the ink tanks, connect the power cord and turn on the printer. Follow the on-screen instructions on the 2.4" color touchscreen to complete the initial setup, including language selection, date/time, and network connection.

Basic Operations
The Epson EcoTank ET-4850 offers a range of functions for your daily tasks.
Printing Documents
Load paper into the printer's paper tray. The tray can hold up to 250 sheets of plain paper. Ensure the paper guides are adjusted to fit the paper size. Send print jobs from your computer or mobile device via Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection.

Copying
