Setup Guide
Setting up your Epson EcoTank ET-2850 is a straightforward process designed for user convenience. Follow these steps to get your printer ready for use.
1. Unpacking and Initial Placement
Carefully remove the printer from its packaging. Ensure all protective tapes and packing materials are removed from the exterior and interior of the printer. Place the printer on a stable, flat surface with adequate space for operation and ventilation.

2. Filling the Ink Tanks
The EcoTank ET-2850 features a cartridge-free Supertank system with high-capacity, easily refillable ink tanks. Open the ink tank unit cover. Each ink bottle is keyed to fit only its corresponding color tank, preventing misfills. Gently insert the bottle into the tank and allow the ink to fill. The bottles are designed to stop filling automatically when the tank is full. Note that part of the ink from the included bottles is used for initial setup, which may result in lower initial page yields compared to replacement bottles.

4. Paper Loading
Load paper into the rear paper feed. The printer supports various paper sizes, including 8.5 x 11 inch, 8.5 x 14 inch, A4, and photo paper. Adjust the paper guides to fit the width of your paper. The maximum input sheet capacity is 100 sheets.
5. Wireless Connectivity
The ET-2850 features built-in wireless (802.11b/g/n) connectivity. To connect to your Wi-Fi network, navigate to the network settings on the printer's display and follow the prompts to select your network and enter the password. For mobile printing, download the Epson Smart Panel app and ensure your device is connected to the same network as the printer.

Place the document on the scanner glass, select the copy function from the control panel, and adjust settings like number of copies or quality before starting.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures your Epson EcoTank ET-2850 continues to perform at its best.
Ink Refill
Monitor the ink levels through the transparent ink tanks on the front of the printer. When a tank is low, refill it using genuine Epson 502 ink bottles. Epson strongly recommends the use of genuine ink to ensure optimal print quality and performance. Use of non-genuine ink could cause damage not covered under the printer’s limited warranty.

Print Head Cleaning
If you notice print quality issues such as missing lines or incorrect colors, perform a print head cleaning. This can typically be done through the printer's control panel or through the printer utility software on your computer. Refer to the on-screen instructions for the specific steps.
General Cleaning
Periodically wipe the exterior of the printer with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents. Keep the scanner glass clean to ensure clear scans and copies.
Troubleshooting
This section addresses common issues you might encounter with your Epson EcoTank ET-2850 printer. For detailed troubleshooting steps, please refer to the official User Guide.
Printer Offline Message
If your printer frequently shows an "offline" message, especially in a network with many wireless devices, consider setting the printer as the default printer in your operating system settings (e.g., Windows 11). Ensure a stable Wi-Fi connection and that the printer is within range of your router.
Print Quality Issues (e.g., Clogged Print Heads)
If prints appear faded, streaky, or have missing lines, the print heads may be clogged. Perform a print head cleaning cycle as described in the Maintenance section. If the issue persists after multiple cleanings, a print head alignment or power cleaning might be necessary. Consult the User Guide for advanced procedures.
Paper Jams
If paper jams occur, carefully remove any jammed paper from the paper tray, output tray, and inside the printer. Always pull paper in the direction of the paper path to avoid tearing. Ensure paper is loaded correctly and not overfilled in the tray.
