Step 1: Prepare the Fuse Tap

The kit includes 4 types of dual-slot fuse holders (ACZ, ACS, ACN, ACU) to match your vehicle's fuse box. Select the appropriate fuse type for your vehicle. Crimp the red wire of your hardwire kit onto the Add-A-Fuse connector.

Step 2: Locate the Fuse Box

Identify your vehicle's fuse box location. This is typically found under the dashboard, in the glove compartment, or under the hood. Consult your vehicle's owner's manual if you cannot locate it.

Step 3: Identify Fuse Slots

Using a circuit pen or multimeter, identify the following:

  • Constant Power Fuse Slot (BAT+): This slot provides continuous power even when the ignition is off. This is for 24/7 parking monitoring.
  • Accessory Power Fuse Slot (ACC): This slot receives power only when the vehicle's ignition is on.
  • Ground Point (GND): A metal bolt or screw on the vehicle's chassis that provides a secure ground connection.

Step 4: Connect Wires

Connect the hardwire kit's wires to the identified points:

  • Connect the yellow wire (BAT+) to the constant power fuse slot using the appropriate fuse tap.
  • Connect the red wire (ACC) to the accessory power fuse slot using the appropriate fuse tap.
  • Connect the black wire (GND) to a metal part of the car chassis for grounding.

Step 5: Route the Cable

Carefully route the Mini USB cable from the fuse box to your dash cam's mounting location. Tuck the cable neatly along the vehicle's interior trim, such as the A-pillar or headliner, to keep it out of sight and secure.

Step 6: Connect to Dash Cam and Test

Plug the Mini USB connector into your dash cam. Start your vehicle to test if the dash cam powers on correctly. Turn off the vehicle and check if the parking mode activates (if enabled on your dash cam).

Low Voltage Protection

The hardwire kit features low voltage protection to prevent your vehicle's battery from draining completely. For a 12V DC battery, power will be cut off if the voltage drops below 11.6V DC. For a 24V DC battery, power will be cut off below 23.6V DC.

7. Operating Instructions

Once installed, the hardwire kit provides continuous power to your dash cam. To utilize 24/7 parking surveillance, ensure your dash cam's 'Parking Mode' feature is enabled. Refer to your dash cam's specific user manual for detailed instructions on activating and configuring parking mode settings.

8. Maintenance

Periodically check all wire connections to ensure they remain secure. No other specific maintenance is required for the hardwire kit itself. Keep the fuse box area clean and free from debris.

9. Troubleshooting

  • Dash Cam Not Powering On:
    • Check all wire connections (BAT+, ACC, GND) to ensure they are secure and correctly connected.
    • Verify that the correct fuse slots are used for constant power and accessory power.
    • Ensure the fuse taps are correctly inserted and the fuses are not blown.
    • Confirm your dash cam uses a Mini USB port and is compatible with 5V/3A input.
  • Vehicle Battery Drains:
    • Ensure the low voltage protection feature is functioning. The kit is designed to cut off power at 11.6V (12V system) or 23.6V (24V system).
    • If the battery still drains, verify the BAT+ connection is to a truly constant power source and not an accessory power source that remains active for too long.
    • Consider reducing the parking mode duration or sensitivity settings on your dash cam if available.
  • Parking Mode Not Activating:
    • Confirm that 'Parking Mode' is enabled in your dash cam's settings.
    • Verify the yellow wire (BAT+) is connected to a constant power source.
