Front Panel Overview:

Controls and Functions:
The E-EQ Mk2 features four bands of equalization, along with input and EQ type selection controls.
HF (High Frequency) Section:
Controls the high-frequency range of the audio signal.
- dB Knob (Red): Adjusts the gain or cut for the high-frequency band, ranging from -14dB to +14dB.
- kHz Knob (Red): Selects the center frequency for the high-frequency band, ranging from 2kHz to 16kHz.
- BELL Button: Toggles the HF band between a shelving response (button out) and a bell-shaped parametric response (button in).
HMF (High Mid Frequency) Section:
Controls the high-mid frequency range with parametric control.
- dB Knob (Green): Adjusts the gain or cut for the high-mid frequency band, ranging from -14dB to +14dB.
- Q Knob (Green): Controls the bandwidth (Q factor) of the high-mid frequency band, from 0.6 to 7. A higher Q value results in a narrower bandwidth.
- kHz Knob (Green): Selects the center frequency for the high-mid frequency band, ranging from 1.5kHz to 6kHz.
LMF (Low Mid Frequency) Section:
Controls the low-mid frequency range with parametric control.
- dB Knob (Blue): Adjusts the gain or cut for the low-mid frequency band, ranging from -14dB to +14dB.
- Q Knob (Blue): Controls the bandwidth (Q factor) of the low-mid frequency band, from 0.2 to 2. A higher Q value results in a narrower bandwidth.
- kHz Knob (Blue): Selects the center frequency for the low-mid frequency band, ranging from 0.2kHz to 2.5kHz.
LF (Low Frequency) Section:
Controls the low-frequency range of the audio signal.
- dB Knob (Brown): Adjusts the gain or cut for the low-frequency band, ranging from -14dB to +14dB.
- Hz Knob (Brown): Selects the center frequency for the low-frequency band, ranging from 30Hz to 450Hz.
- BELL Button: Toggles the LF band between a shelving response (button out) and a bell-shaped parametric response (button in).
BLK Button:
This button selects between the two different EQ characteristics found on original SSL 4000 E consoles. When the BLK button is out, the module operates in the 'Brown' EQ mode (also known as the '02' EQ), which features SSL’s classic logarithmically symmetric design for the mid-bands. When the BLK button is pressed in, it activates the 'Black' EQ mode (also known as the '242' EQ), offering a different tonal character and response curve.
IN Button:
Engages or bypasses the equalization circuit. When the IN button is pressed in, the EQ is active. When the button is out, the EQ is bypassed, allowing the audio signal to pass through unaffected.
5. Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Solid State Logic E-EQ Mk2, follow these simple maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Use a soft, dry, lint-free cloth to clean the exterior of the module. Do not use liquid cleaners, aerosols, or solvents, as these can damage the finish or internal components.
- Storage: When not in use, store the module in a clean, dry environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If removed from the rack, consider using a protective case.
- Ventilation: Ensure that your 500 series rack has adequate ventilation to prevent overheating, which can affect the performance and lifespan of the module.
- Connections: Periodically check all audio and power connections for secure fit. Loose connections can lead to signal degradation or intermittent operation.
