1. Introduction
Thank you for choosing the ChiliTec MILOS 160° Recessed Motion Detector. This device is designed to replace a standard light switch, offering automatic lighting control based on motion detection. It is suitable for both traditional incandescent bulbs and modern LED lighting, with a wide range of adjustable settings for optimal performance. Please read this manual carefully before installation and operation to ensure safe and correct use.
2. Safety Information
WARNING: Electrical installation should only be performed by a qualified electrician. Incorrect installation can lead to electric shock, fire, or damage to the device.
- Always disconnect power at the main circuit breaker before beginning any electrical work.
- Ensure the voltage supply matches the device's requirements (250V).
- Do not exceed the maximum load capacity (30-400W for ohmic loads, 3-100W for inductive loads/LEDs).
- This device is designed for indoor use only.
- Do not modify the device.
3. Product Overview
The ChiliTec MILOS motion detector is a recessed unit designed for seamless integration into your living space. It features a 160° detection angle and a maximum range of 7 meters.

4. Setup and Installation
This motion detector is designed for recessed mounting in standard flush-mounted boxes and hollow wall boxes. It directly replaces an existing light switch using a 2-wire connection.
4.1. Pre-installation Checks
- Ensure the power supply to the circuit is completely disconnected at the main breaker.
- Verify that the existing switch is a simple ON/OFF type and not a two-way (alternative) switch, as this device is not suitable for two-way switching.
- Confirm the dimensions of your wall box are compatible with the device (see dimensions below).
4.2. Wiring Diagram
The device uses a 2-wire connection, simplifying replacement of a standard switch. Connect the live (L) and switched live (A) wires as shown in the diagram. The neutral (N) wire is typically not directly connected to the motion detector itself in a 2-wire setup, but rather to the load (light).

4.3. Mounting
- After wiring, carefully insert the motion detector module into the wall box.
- Secure the module using the screws provided with your wall box or the device's mounting clips.
- Attach the included frame to the module.
- Restore power at the main circuit breaker.
4.4. Dimensions
The external dimensions with the frame are 80 x 80 mm. The recessed depth required is 35 mm. The insert dimensions are 55 x 55 mm.

5. Operating Instructions
The motion detector features an integrated switch and two adjustment dials for customizing its operation.
5.1. ON/OFF/PIR Switch
Located at the bottom of the sensor, this switch allows you to select the operating mode:
- ON: The light will remain continuously on, bypassing the motion sensor.
- OFF: The light will remain continuously off.
- PIR: The motion sensor is active, and the light will turn on automatically upon motion detection, subject to ambient light conditions and set duration.
5.2. Time Delay Adjustment (TIME)
This dial controls how long the light remains on after motion is detected and no further motion is sensed. The duration can be adjusted from approximately 10 seconds to 420 seconds (7 minutes). Turn the dial clockwise to increase the time delay and counter-clockwise to decrease it.
5.3. Light Sensitivity Adjustment (LUX)
This dial determines the ambient light level at which the sensor will activate. It can be adjusted from approximately 2 lux (dark) to 1,000 lux (bright).
- Turn the dial towards the moon symbol for activation only in low light conditions (e.g., at night).
- Turn the dial towards the sun symbol for activation in brighter conditions (e.g., during the day).
Note: The adjustment dials are typically located behind a cover or directly on the sensor module, accessible after removing the front frame. Refer to Figure 1 for the location of the ON/OFF/PIR switch.
6. Maintenance
The ChiliTec MILOS motion detector requires minimal maintenance.
- Cleaning: Wipe the sensor lens and outer frame with a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
- Inspection: Periodically check for any visible damage to the device or wiring. If damage is found, disconnect power and consult a qualified electrician.
- No User-Serviceable Parts: The device contains no user-serviceable parts. Do not attempt to open or repair the unit.
7. Troubleshooting
If you experience issues with your motion detector, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
