2. Setup and Initial Use
2.1 Battery Installation
The Topeak SmartGauge D2X comes with batteries pre-installed. If replacement is needed, open the battery compartment located on the back of the unit. Insert new batteries, ensuring correct polarity, then securely close the compartment.
2.2 Powering On/Off
- To Power On: Press the power button () once. The display will illuminate.
- To Power Off: Press and hold the power button for a few seconds, or the unit will automatically shut off after a period of inactivity to conserve battery life.
2.3 Unit Selection
The gauge can display pressure in PSI, Bar, or kg/cm². To switch between units, press the 'Unit' button () while the gauge is powered on. The selected unit will be shown on the display.
3. Operating Instructions
3.1 Measuring Tire Pressure
- Ensure the gauge is powered on and the desired unit is selected.
- Remove the valve cap from the tire.
- Press the gauge head firmly and squarely onto the tire valve stem. For Presta valves, ensure the valve core is unscrewed before attaching the gauge.
- The pressure reading will appear on the digital display. Hold the gauge in place until the reading stabilizes.
- Remove the gauge from the valve stem. The reading will be held on the display for a short period before auto-off or until reset.

3.2 Air Release Function
If the tire pressure is too high, use the air release button located on the side of the gauge. While the gauge is attached to the valve and displaying pressure, press the air release button to slowly bleed air from the tire. The digital display will provide continuous real-time pressure readings as air is released, allowing for precise adjustment.

4.1 Cleaning and Storage
- Clean the gauge with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit in water.
