Setup
1. Unpacking and Placement

3. Loading Media (Labels and Ribbon)
The CL4NX Plus printer uses both labels and a thermal transfer ribbon for printing.

- Open the printer's top cover.
- Loading Labels: Place the label roll onto the media supply spindle. Ensure the labels feed smoothly into the print mechanism.
- Loading Ribbon: Install the thermal transfer ribbon onto the ribbon supply spindle, following the indicated path. Ensure the ribbon is taut and aligned.
- Close the top cover securely.
4. Connecting to a Computer/Network
The printer supports multiple connectivity options:
- USB: Connect a USB cable from the printer to your computer.
- LAN (Ethernet): Connect an Ethernet cable from the printer to your network router or switch.
- Bluetooth: Enable Bluetooth on your device and pair with the printer. Refer to your operating system's Bluetooth pairing instructions.
- Serial: Connect a serial cable for legacy system integration.
Install the appropriate printer drivers from the Sato website for your operating system.
Operating Instructions
1. Powering On/Off
- Power On: Press the power button located on the front panel. The display will illuminate.
- Power Off: Press and hold the power button until the printer shuts down.
2. Basic Printing
- Ensure labels and ribbon are correctly loaded.
- Open your label design software or application.
- Select the Sato CL4NX Plus printer from your printer list.
- Configure print settings (label size, orientation, quantity) as required.
- Initiate the print job from your software.
3. Using the Control Panel
The printer features a color LCD control panel for direct operation and configuration.
- Navigation: Use the arrow keys to navigate menus.
- Selection: Press the "Enter" or "OK" button to confirm selections.
- Status: The display shows printer status, errors, and media levels.
Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your printer.
1. Cleaning the Print Head
Clean the print head regularly, especially if print quality degrades.
- Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cable.
- Open the top cover.
- Gently wipe the print head surface with a lint-free cloth moistened with isopropyl alcohol.
- Allow the print head to dry completely before closing the cover and reconnecting power.
2. Cleaning the Platen Roller
The platen roller should also be cleaned to prevent media jams and ensure smooth feeding.
- Turn off the printer and disconnect the power cable.
- Open the top cover.
- Rotate the platen roller manually and wipe its surface with a lint-free cloth moistened with isopropyl alcohol.
- Allow to dry before use.
3. Replacing Labels and Ribbon
Replace media when depleted. Refer to the "Loading Media" section under Setup for detailed instructions.
