To integrate the button into your smart home system, it must be paired with a compatible SmartThings Hub.

  1. Ensure your SmartThings Hub is powered on and connected to your network.
  2. Open the SmartThings mobile application on your smartphone or tablet.
  3. Navigate to the 'Add device' or '+' icon within the app.

4.1. Configurable Button Actions

Within the SmartThings app, you can assign different actions or routines to the following button presses:

  • Single Press: A quick, momentary press and release.
  • Double Press: Two quick presses in succession.
  • Long Press: Press and hold the button for approximately 2-3 seconds.

Refer to the SmartThings application's automation or routines section to customize these actions to control your smart devices or trigger specific scenes.

4.2. Temperature Sensor

The integrated temperature sensor reports the ambient temperature to your SmartThings Hub. This data can be viewed within the SmartThings app and used in automations, for example, to trigger a fan if the temperature exceeds a certain threshold.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Battery Replacement

When the battery level is low, the SmartThings app will typically notify you. To replace the battery:

  1. Twist the back cover counter-clockwise to open the button.
  2. Remove the old CR2450 battery.
  3. Insert a new CR2450 battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
  4. Secure the back cover by twisting it clockwise.

Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Aeotec SmartThings Button, consider the following:

  • Device Not Responding: Check the battery level in the SmartThings app. Replace the battery if it is low. Ensure the button is within range of your SmartThings Hub or a Zigbee repeater.
  • Pairing Issues: Ensure the button is in pairing mode (flashing blue LED). Try moving the button closer to the SmartThings Hub during the pairing process. If issues persist, try resetting the button (refer to manufacturer's specific reset instructions, often a long press during power-up or a pinhole reset, though not explicitly detailed in provided data).
  • Inaccurate Temperature Readings: Ensure the button is not placed near heat sources or in direct sunlight, which can affect readings.
  • Intermittent Connectivity: This could be due to interference or range issues. Consider adding more Zigbee devices (which act as repeaters) to strengthen your mesh network.
