Setup

1. Unboxing: Carefully remove the shredder from its packaging. Retain packaging for future storage or transport.
2. Positioning: Place the shredder on a flat, stable surface. Ensure adequate space around the unit for ventilation and operation. The shredder is equipped with wheels for easy movement.

3. Connect Power: Plug the power cable into the shredder's power inlet and then into a standard electrical outlet.
4. Waste Bin: Ensure the 6.6-gallon (25-liter) pull-out waste bin is correctly inserted into the shredder unit. The shredder will not operate if the bin is not properly seated.

Operating Instructions

Control Panel Overview

The control panel on top of the shredder provides intuitive operation with various indicators:

• REV (Reverse): Reverses the shredding action to clear jams.
• Power Button: Turns the shredder On/Off and indicates status (Stand-by: Blue).
• FWD (Forward): Initiates forward shredding.
• Overheat Indicator: Red light indicates the shredder is too hot and needs to cool down.
• Overload Indicator: Red flashing light indicates too many sheets are inserted.
• Waste Bin Open Indicator: Light indicates the bin is not properly closed.

Shredding Documents

The BONSEN S3104 is designed for cross-cut shredding, turning documents into tiny particles (13/64 by 63/64 inches) for high security (P-4 level).

1. Power On: Press the power button. The indicator light will turn blue, signifying it's in stand-by mode.
2. Insert Materials: Insert up to 20 sheets of paper (20lb bond paper) into the paper entry slot. The shredder can also shred junk mail, credit cards, CDs, staples, and paper clips.

3. Automatic Operation: The shredder will automatically start when material is detected and stop when shredding is complete.
4. Continuous Shredding: The advanced cooling system allows for more than 60 minutes of continuous shredding without overheating.

Maintenance

• Emptying the Waste Bin: Monitor the clear window on the waste bin to see when it is nearing full capacity. When full, pull out the bin, empty the shredded material, and reinsert it securely.
• Oiling the Cutters: To maintain optimal performance and extend the life of your shredder, regularly oil the cutting blades. Apply shredder oil (not included) across the paper entry slot. Refer to the user manual for recommended oiling frequency (typically once a month for regular use).
