4. Safety Information
- Always disconnect the vehicle's battery before performing any electrical work.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and gloves.
- If you are unsure about any step of the installation process, consult a qualified automotive technician.
- Ensure all connections are secure and properly insulated to prevent short circuits or moisture ingress.
5. Installation Guide
The installation process is designed to be a direct replacement for your factory tail lights. No vehicle modifications are typically required for the light assemblies themselves, however, some wiring routing may require minor adjustments.
5.1 Tools Required (Recommended)
- Plastic automotive interior pry tools
- Socket wrench set
- Step drill bits (for optional wiring path)
- Zip ties or electrical wrapping tape
- Plastic bushings (for optional wiring path)
- Silicone sealant (for optional wiring path)
5.2 Step-by-Step Installation
- Preparation: Park your vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake. Disconnect the negative terminal of your vehicle's battery.
- Access Rear Lights: Open the trunk. Carefully remove any trunk liner panels or access covers to expose the rear of the tail light assemblies. Use plastic pry tools to avoid damaging interior trim.
- Remove Factory Tail Lights: Locate and remove the mounting bolts or nuts securing the factory tail lights. Disconnect the electrical connectors by pressing the release tabs and pulling them apart. Carefully remove the old tail light assemblies from the vehicle.
- Prepare New Tail Lights: Ensure the waterproof pad on the back of the new VLAND tail lights is properly sealed and there are no gaps to prevent moisture ingress.
- Wiring for Inner Lights (Trunk Lid): For the inner tail lights located on the trunk lid, you will need to route the red and yellow wires from the outboard light electrical harness up the trunk hinge to the inboard lights. There may not be an existing opening in the sheet metal behind the outboard light. If so, drill a small pilot hole (e.g., 1/8") and then carefully use a step drill to enlarge the hole to accommodate a plastic snap bushing. Route the wires through this bushing. It may be necessary to cut and then butt-joint the wires together inside the car for a clean installation. Seal the wires through the bushing with silicone to prevent water seepage. Do NOT run wires across sheet metal edges under rubber trunk trim, as this can cause chafing and wire separation.
- Connect New Tail Lights: Connect the electrical harnesses of the new VLAND tail lights to the vehicle's wiring. Ensure the connections are firm and secure.
- Sequential Turn Signal Function: The tail lights come with a plug for the sequential turn signal function. If you prefer not to have the sequential function, disconnect this plug.
- Mount New Tail Lights: Carefully position the new tail light assemblies into their respective openings. Secure them with the original mounting bolts or nuts. Ensure a snug fit. For convertible models, reuse the small mounting panels from the stock tail lights.
- Test Functionality: Reconnect the vehicle's battery. Test all light functions: running lights, brake lights, reverse lights, fog lights, and turn signals (both sequential and non-sequential, if applicable).
- Final Assembly: Once all functions are verified, reinstall any removed trunk liner panels or access covers.

8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter any issues with your VLAND OLED Tail Lights, please refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Delayed Brake Lights: If brake lights illuminate sequentially (e.g., middle, then right, then left) with a noticeable delay, this indicates an electrical anomaly. Ensure all wiring connections are secure and properly seated. Check for any loose pins or corrosion in the connectors.
- Imperfect Fitment: If the tail light clips do not align perfectly or feel loose in the holes, leading to the small bracket being the primary retainer, ensure the light assembly is correctly seated. Double-check that no obstructions are preventing full engagement of the clips. While the lights are designed for OEM fitment, minor variations can occur.
- Moisture Inside Lens: If moisture is observed inside the lens, immediately check the waterproof pad on the back of the tail light. Ensure it is properly sealed and there are no gaps. Re-seal if necessary.
- Lights Not Functioning: Verify all electrical connections are secure. Check vehicle fuses related to tail lights. Ensure the battery is properly connected and charged.
