1. Introduction

3. Setup

3.1. Charging the Device

Before initial use, fully charge the device's internal battery.

  1. Locate the USB-C port on the device.
  2. Connect the provided USB-C cable to the device and a compatible power adapter (not included) or a computer's USB port.
  3. The charging indicator will illuminate, typically red during charging and green when fully charged.

3.2. Powering On/Off

  • To Power On: Press and hold the Power button (usually marked with a circle and vertical line) for a few seconds until the display illuminates.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the Power button again until the display turns off.

3.3. Diopter Adjustment

Adjust the diopter to achieve a sharp image in the eyepiece for your vision.

  • Look through the eyepiece.
  • Rotate the diopter adjustment ring (located near the eyepiece) until the on-screen display text and icons appear sharp and clear.

3.4. Objective Lens Focus

For optimal image clarity of distant objects, adjust the objective lens focus.

  • Point the monocular at an object at your desired observation distance.
  • Rotate the objective lens focus ring (located at the front of the device) until the thermal image of the object appears sharp.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Basic Observation

Once powered on and focused, the device will display a thermal image.

4.2. Menu Navigation and Palettes

Use the control buttons to navigate the menu and select different thermal palettes.

  • Press the Menu button (often labeled 'M' or with a list icon) to access the main menu.
  • Use the Up/Down buttons (or similar navigation buttons) to scroll through menu options.
  • Press the OK/Select button (often labeled 'OK' or 'MOD') to confirm a selection.
  • Common thermal palettes include:
    • White Hot: Hot objects appear white.
    • Black Hot: Hot objects appear black.
    • Red Hot: Hot objects appear red.
    • Fusion: Displays different colors for different temperature ranges.

4.3. Digital Zoom

The device supports digital zoom to magnify the image.

  • Typically, a dedicated Zoom button or a combination of navigation buttons can activate and adjust digital zoom levels. Refer to the on-screen interface for specific controls.

4.4. Distance Measurement

The monocular can estimate the distance to an object based on its known height.

  1. Enter the distance measurement mode via the menu.
  2. Select a target type (e.g., deer, human) or manually input the target's height.
  3. Align the top and bottom markers with the target in the display.
  4. The estimated distance will be displayed on the screen.

4.5. Wi-Fi Hotspot

Activate the Wi-Fi hotspot to connect your smartphone or tablet using the Hikmicro Sight app.

  • Enable the Wi-Fi hotspot feature from the device's menu.
  • On your mobile device, search for the Hikmicro Wi-Fi network and connect using the provided password (usually found in the device's Wi-Fi settings or manual).
  • Use the Hikmicro Sight app for live view, remote control, and media management.

5. Maintenance

5.1. Cleaning

  • Device Body: Wipe with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Lens: Use a soft lens brush to remove dust, then gently clean with a lens cleaning cloth and lens cleaning solution. Avoid touching the lens surface with bare fingers.

5.2. Storage

  • Store the device in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • If storing for an extended period, ensure the battery is partially charged (around 50%) and recharge it every few months to maintain battery health.

6. Troubleshooting
