5. Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to install your JONSBO CR1400 CPU Air Cooler. The process varies slightly for Intel and AMD platforms.
General Installation Steps:
- Prepare CPU and Motherboard: Ensure your CPU is correctly seated in its socket. Clean any old thermal paste from the CPU surface if you are replacing an existing cooler.
- Apply Thermal Paste: Apply a small, pea-sized amount of the provided thermal paste to the center of your CPU's integrated heat spreader (IHS). Do not spread it manually; the pressure from the cooler will distribute it evenly.
- Attach Mounting Brackets: Select the appropriate Intel or AMD mounting brackets.
- For Intel: Use the adjustable backplate provided. Secure the Intel brackets to the cooler base.
- For AMD: Utilize the stock backplate that came with your AMD motherboard. Secure the AMD brackets to the cooler base.
- Position the Cooler: Carefully align the cooler with the mounting holes on the motherboard.
- Secure the Cooler: Use the provided screws to secure the cooler to the mounting brackets. Tighten screws in a diagonal pattern to ensure even pressure. The high-level metal fasteners ensure long-term stability.
- Connect Fan Cable: Connect the 4-pin PWM fan cable to the CPU_FAN header on your motherboard.

6. Operating Instructions
The JONSBO CR1400 CPU Air Cooler operates automatically once installed and connected. The PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) fan adjusts its speed based on CPU temperature, ensuring efficient cooling and reduced noise levels when not under heavy load.
The integrated RGB lighting system features an automatic color change chip. The phantom lights on the cooler and fan will cycle through various colors automatically. Please note that the RGB lighting on this model is not software-controllable and operates independently.

7. Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure optimal performance and longevity of your CPU cooler:
- Dust Removal: Periodically clean dust from the heatsink fins and fan blades. The fan is removable for easier cleaning. Use compressed air or a soft brush.
- Fan Cleaning: Gently wipe the fan blades with a soft, dry cloth. Ensure the fan is completely dry before reattaching.
- Thermal Paste: While not required frequently, consider reapplying thermal paste every few years or if you notice a significant increase in CPU temperatures.
8. Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your JONSBO CR1400 CPU Air Cooler, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
- Fan Not Spinning:
- Check if the 4-pin PWM cable is securely connected to the CPU_FAN header on the motherboard.
- Ensure the motherboard's fan control settings are not set to 'off' or a very low RPM that prevents spinning at idle.
- No RGB Lighting:
- Verify that the fan and top lighting connections are secure.
- Remember that the RGB lighting is automatic and not software-controllable. If the fan is spinning, the lights should be active.
- High CPU Temperatures:
- Ensure the cooler is securely mounted and making proper contact with the CPU. Uneven pressure can lead to poor heat transfer.
- Check if sufficient thermal paste was applied and that it is evenly spread.
- Clean any accumulated dust from the heatsink fins and fan blades.
- Verify that your PC case has adequate airflow.
