Setup

Battery Installation:

The ANENG ST180 requires two AAA 1.5V batteries (not included). To install or replace batteries:

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the meter.
  2. Use a screwdriver to open the battery compartment.
  3. Insert two AAA 1.5V batteries, observing the correct polarity (+ and -).
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover and secure it with the screw.

Connecting Test Leads:

For voltage, resistance, capacitance, frequency, and diode measurements, connect the test leads:

  • Insert the black test lead into the "COM" (Common) input jack.
  • Insert the red test lead into the "VΩHz" input jack.

Operating Instructions

Power On/Off:

Rotate the function dial from the "OFF" position to any desired measurement function to power on the meter. To power off, rotate the dial back to the "OFF" position.

Function Selection:

The rotary dial allows you to select different measurement functions. For functions with multiple modes (e.g., AC/DC voltage), press the SEL/V button to cycle through the modes.

AC Current Measurement (Clamp Jaw):

To measure AC current:

  1. Rotate the function dial to the A~ position.
  2. Press the jaw open trigger to open the clamp jaw.
  3. Enclose a single conductor (not a power cord with multiple wires) within the clamp jaw.
  4. Read the AC current value on the display.

Voltage Measurement (AC/DC):

To measure AC or DC voltage:

  1. Rotate the function dial to the V~ (AC Voltage) or V- (DC Voltage) position. If combined, press SEL/V to switch.
  2. Connect the red test lead to the positive (+) side of the circuit and the black test lead to the negative (-) side.
  3. Read the voltage value on the display.

Resistance Measurement:

To measure resistance:

  1. Rotate the function dial to the Ω position.
  2. Ensure the circuit is de-energized before connecting the test leads across the component.
  3. Read the resistance value on the display.

Capacitance Measurement:

To measure capacitance:

  1. Rotate the function dial to the Capacitance position (often shared with resistance, press SEL/V).
  2. Discharge the capacitor before connecting the test leads.
  3. Connect the test leads across the capacitor.
  4. Read the capacitance value on the display.

Frequency Measurement:

To measure frequency:

  1. Rotate the function dial to the Hz position (often shared, press SEL/V).
  2. Connect the test leads across the signal source.
  3. Read the frequency value on the display.

Diode Test:

To perform a diode test:

  1. Rotate the function dial to the Diode position (often shared, press SEL/V).
  2. Connect the red test lead to the anode and the black test lead to the cathode of the diode.
  3. The display will show the forward voltage drop. Reverse the leads to check for open circuit.

NCV (Non-Contact Voltage) Detection:

The NCV function detects AC voltage without physical contact.

  1. Rotate the function dial to the NCV position.
  2. Bring the top of the meter near the conductor or outlet.
  3. The meter will beep and the LED will flash, with the frequency increasing as it gets closer to the AC voltage source.

Data Hold:

Press the H/BL button (single press) to hold the current reading on the display. Press it again to release the hold.

Backlight and Flashlight:

  • Backlight: Long press the H/BL button to turn the display backlight on or off.
  • Flashlight: Long press the SEL/V button to activate the built-in flashlight. Long press again to turn it off.

Maintenance

Cleaning:

Wipe the meter with a dry, soft cloth. Do not use abrasives or solvents.

Battery Replacement:

When the low battery indicator appears on the display, replace the batteries as described in the "Setup" section to ensure accurate measurements and proper operation.

Storage:

If the meter is not used for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage. Store the device in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your ANENG ST180, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • No Display/Meter Not Turning On: Check battery installation and ensure batteries are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
  • Inaccurate Readings: Ensure test leads are properly connected. Verify the correct function and range are selected. Replace batteries if the low battery indicator is on.
  • No NCV Detection: Ensure the NCV function is selected. The sensor needs to be close to an AC voltage source.
  • Continuity Buzzer Not Working: Ensure the continuity function is selected. Check if the circuit is de-energized.

If problems persist, contact customer support for further assistance.
