3. Setup
Your Hoover WindTunnel vacuum cleaner comes partially assembled. Follow these steps to complete the assembly:
- Handle Assembly: Insert the handle into the vacuum body until it clicks securely into place. Ensure it is firmly seated.
- Hose Connection: Attach the flexible hose to the hose inlet on the back of the vacuum. Twist to lock it into position.
- Tool Storage: Securely place the included cleaning tools onto their designated storage posts on the vacuum.
- Cord Management: Wrap the power cord around the cord hooks for neat storage.
4. Operating Instructions
4.1 Powering On/Off
To turn the vacuum cleaner on or off, locate the power switch on the main body of the unit, typically near the base. Press the switch to activate or deactivate the vacuum.
4.2 Surface Selection
The vacuum features a 5-level height adjustment dial to optimize cleaning for different floor types:
- Hard Floor (Level 1): For bare floors, tile, and delicate surfaces.
- Low Carpet (Level 2-3): For low-pile carpets and area rugs.
- High Carpet (Level 4-5): For medium to high-pile carpets.
Rotate the dial on the vacuum head to select the appropriate setting for your cleaning surface.
4.3 Using Attachments
The Hoover WindTunnel comes with various tools for specialized cleaning tasks:

- Extension Wand: Connect to the hose for extended reach to clean ceilings, high shelves, or under furniture.
- Crevice Tool: Ideal for tight spaces, corners, and edges.
- Upholstery Tool: Designed for cleaning furniture, curtains, and other fabric surfaces.
- Powered Hand Tool (if included): For deep cleaning pet hair from upholstery and stairs.
To use an attachment, remove the hose from its storage and firmly attach the desired tool. Ensure a tight connection for optimal suction.
4.4 Automatic Cord Rewind
The 25-ft power cord automatically retracts with the touch of a button. To rewind the cord, gently press the cord rewind pedal located at the base of the vacuum. Guide the cord to prevent tangling.

5. Maintenance
Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and extends the life of your vacuum cleaner.
5.1 Emptying the Dirt Cup
Empty the dirt cup after each use or when debris reaches the MAX fill line. To empty:
- Press the dirt cup release button to detach the dirt cup from the vacuum.
- Hold the dirt cup over a trash receptacle.
- Press the bottom release latch to open the bottom of the dirt cup and empty its contents.
- Close the bottom latch securely and reattach the dirt cup to the vacuum.

5.2 Cleaning Filters
The vacuum features HEPA Media Filtration. Clean the filters regularly to maintain suction power.
- Remove the dirt cup. The primary filter is located inside the dirt cup assembly.
- Twist or pull to remove the filter.
- Tap the filter over a trash can to remove loose dirt. If washable, rinse under running water until clean. Allow to air dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinserting.
- The HEPA media filter is typically located at the bottom of the dirt cup or in a separate compartment. Refer to the indicator light for when to check or replace.

5.3 Cleaning the Brush Roll
Periodically check the brush roll for tangled hair or debris. Unplug the vacuum, turn it over, and carefully cut away any hair or strings wrapped around the brush roll using scissors. Avoid damaging the bristles.
6. Troubleshooting
If your vacuum cleaner is not performing as expected, consult the following table for common issues and solutions:
