4. Setup

4.1 Power Connection

  1. Ensure the welder's power switch is in the "OFF" position.
  2. Determine the available power supply (110V or 220V).
  3. Connect the appropriate power adapter cable to the welder's input.
  4. Plug the power cable into a suitable, grounded electrical outlet.
  5. Important: Always use a dedicated circuit with appropriate amperage for welding to prevent circuit overload.

4.2 Welding Cable Connection

  1. Connect the electrode holder cable to the positive (+) quick-connect terminal on the welder. Twist to secure.
  2. Connect the work clamp cable to the negative (-) quick-connect terminal on the welder. Twist to secure.
  3. Ensure all connections are tight and secure to prevent arcing and overheating.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Preparing for Welding

  • Wear all necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including a welding helmet, gloves, and protective clothing.
  • Clean the workpiece: Remove any rust, paint, or grease from the area to be welded to ensure a good electrical connection and quality weld.
  • Attach the work clamp securely to the workpiece or welding table, ensuring good electrical contact.
  • Insert the appropriate welding electrode into the electrode holder.

5.2 Powering On and Adjusting Settings

  1. Turn the welder's power switch to the "ON" position. The digital display will illuminate.
  2. Use the current adjustment knob on the front panel to set the desired welding amperage. Refer to electrode manufacturer specifications for recommended settings.
  3. The S7 ARC-250 features "Hot Start" and "Arc Force" functions for improved arc ignition and stability. These are typically automatic but can be influenced by the current setting.

5.3 Welding Process (Stick Welding)

  1. Bring the electrode into contact with the workpiece to strike an arc. Quickly lift the electrode slightly to maintain a consistent arc length.
  2. Maintain a steady hand and move the electrode along the joint at a consistent speed, ensuring proper penetration and bead formation.
  3. When finished, break the arc by quickly pulling the electrode away from the workpiece.
  4. Allow the weld and workpiece to cool before handling.
