4.2 Performing Tests
The BT506 supports three primary test types: Battery Test, Cranking Test, and Generator Test.

Figure 4.2: The BT506 offers Battery, Starter, and Generator test functions.
4.2.1 Battery Test
This test evaluates the overall health of the battery, including State of Charge (SOC), voltage, and measured capacity.
- From the app/scanner interface, select "Battery Test."
- Choose between "In-Vehicle Test" or "Out-of-Vehicle Test."
- Follow the on-screen prompts to input battery specifications (e.g., CCA rating, battery type) if not automatically detected.
- The device will perform the test and display results such as SOC, voltage, measured CCA, and repair tips if applicable.

4.2.2 Cranking Test
The Cranking Test assesses the vehicle's starting system by measuring starting voltage, current, and run-up time.
- Select "Cranking Test" from the main menu.
- Follow the on-screen instructions, which typically involve starting the vehicle.
- The BT506 will analyze the starter's performance and provide a report on the starting system's condition.
4.2.3 Generator Test (Charging System Test)
This test evaluates the alternator's performance and the overall charging system by measuring load voltage/current, no-load voltage/current, and ripple.
- Select "Generator Test" from the main menu.
- Follow the on-screen instructions, which may require running the engine at specific RPMs or activating certain electrical loads.
- The device will provide an intuitive judgment of the charging system and offer maintenance suggestions.
