Setup and Installation
Follow these steps to properly set up and install your Arka Doorsound alarm:
1. Prepare the Device
- Insert Batteries: Open the back cover of the Doorsound sensor unit. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity as indicated inside the compartment. Close the cover securely.
- Download App: Download the "Arka Innovation" mobile app from your device's app store.
- Register Device: Open the app and follow the on-screen instructions to register your device. You will need to enter the serial number found on the device.
- Connect to WiFi: Ensure your phone and the Doorsound device are in close proximity to your 2.4 GHz WiFi router during setup. The device requires a 2.4 GHz WiFi connection for operation.
2. Mounting the Sensor
Proper placement of the sensor and magnet is crucial for accurate operation. The sensor and magnet should be aligned and close to each other when the door is closed.
- Clean Surface: Clean the surface where you plan to place the sensor and magnet to ensure strong adhesion.
- Position Magnet: Attach the smaller magnet piece to the edge of the door frame using one of the adhesive tapes.
- Position Sensor: Hold the larger sensor unit approximately 3/4 inch from the magnet. Open and close the door a few times. If positioned correctly, you should see a quick green light on the sensor and hear a single beep each time the door opens. If you don't see the light, adjust the sensor's position closer to the magnet. For larger door gaps, the sensor may need to slightly overhang.
- Secure Sensor: Once the optimal position is confirmed, peel off the backing from the adhesive tape on the sensor unit and securely mount it.

Maintenance
Battery Replacement
The Doorsound alarm operates on 2 AAA batteries. With typical use, batteries last at least a year. Actual life depends on how often the alarm sounds and how many notifications are sent. When the batteries are low, the device will indicate this with an orange light and three rapid beeps when the door opens. Replace batteries promptly to ensure continuous operation.
- Open the back cover of the sensor unit.
- Remove the old AAA batteries.
- Insert new AAA batteries, observing correct polarity.
- Close the back cover securely.
Cleaning
Wipe the device with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No green light/beep when door opens | Sensor and magnet misalignment or too far apart. | Adjust the position of the sensor and magnet to be within 3/4 inch and properly aligned. Refer to the "Mounting the Sensor" section. |
| Orange light/rapid beeps when door opens | Low battery. | Replace the 2 AAA batteries. |
| No text/app notifications | No WiFi connection, incorrect app settings, or phone issues. |
|
| Device not connecting to WiFi | Incorrect WiFi band (5 GHz), weak signal, or incorrect password. |
|
| Local alarm sounds, but no remote notifications | WiFi outage or connectivity issue. | The local alarm will still function without WiFi. Remote notifications will resume automatically once WiFi is restored. |
