5.2 Battery Connection

  1. Battery Type: Use a 12V deep cycle marine battery. Ensure the battery is fully charged before use.
  2. Connect Cables: Connect the red positive (+) cable from the motor to the positive (+) terminal of the battery. Connect the black negative (-) cable from the motor to the negative (-) terminal of the battery.
  3. Secure Connections: Ensure all connections are tight and free from corrosion. Loose connections can cause power loss or overheating.
  4. Kill Switch: Attach the magnetic kill switch lanyard to the motor's control head and to yourself.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Power On and Speed Control

  1. Engage Kill Switch: Ensure the magnetic kill switch is properly seated on the control head.
  2. Adjust Speed: Rotate the stepless speed control handle to increase or decrease speed. Rotate forward for forward motion and backward for reverse motion. The motor offers precise, continuous speed adjustment.

7. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your trolling motor.

  • Disconnect Power: Always disconnect the battery before performing any maintenance.
  • Cleaning: After each use, especially in saltwater, rinse the motor thoroughly with fresh water to remove salt, dirt, and debris. Wipe down all surfaces.
  • Propeller Inspection: Regularly inspect the propeller for weeds, fishing line, or damage. Remove any obstructions carefully. If the propeller is damaged, replace it to maintain efficiency and prevent vibration.
  • Sacrificial Anode: The motor is equipped with a sacrificial anode to protect against galvanic corrosion. Inspect the anode periodically (e.g., every 50 hours of use or annually) and replace it if it is significantly corroded (more than 50% consumed).
  • Electrical Connections: Check battery terminals and motor connections for corrosion. Clean with a wire brush if necessary and apply a dielectric grease to prevent future corrosion.
  • Storage: When storing the motor for extended periods, ensure it is clean, dry, and stored in a cool, dry place. Disconnect the battery.
