1. Unpacking and Preparation

Unfold the raft on a clean, flat surface, free from sharp objects. Ensure there is ample space for inflation.

2. Inflation

1. Locate the inflation valves on the raft. The Pathfinder raft typically has multiple air chambers for safety.
2. Open the valve caps.
3. Insert the hose of the hand pump into the valve.
4. Inflate each chamber until it is firm to the touch but not hard. Do not over-inflate. The rigid inflatable floor should also be inflated to a firm pressure.
5. Once inflated, quickly remove the pump and securely close the valve cap to prevent air leakage.

3. Oar Assembly and Installation

1. Assemble the oars by connecting the shaft sections. Ensure they click securely into place.
2. Insert the assembled oars into the welded oarlocks on the sides of the raft.
3. Secure the oars in place using any provided retaining clips or straps.

4. Pre-Launch Checklist

• Ensure all air chambers are properly inflated and valve caps are sealed.
• Verify oars are securely installed in the oarlocks.
• Check that the all-around grab rope is properly secured and accessible.
• Confirm all occupants have a properly fitted PFD.

Launching the Raft

1. Carefully carry the inflated raft to the water's edge. Avoid dragging it over rough surfaces.
2. Gently place the raft into the water.
3. Board the raft one person at a time, maintaining balance. Distribute weight evenly.

Paddling

Use the provided oars for propulsion. The welded oarlocks allow for smooth and efficient paddling. For best control, synchronize paddling if multiple people are rowing.

Returning to Shore and Docking

Approach the shore or dock slowly. Use the all-around grab rope to assist with docking and securing the raft. The handles provide additional grip for maneuvering.

Cleaning

After each use, rinse the raft with fresh water to remove dirt, salt, or debris. Use a mild soap solution for stubborn stains. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.

Drying

Thoroughly dry the raft before deflating and storing. Moisture can lead to mildew and material degradation.

Deflation and Storage

1. Open all inflation valves to allow air to escape. You can use the pump in reverse or gently press on the raft to expedite deflation.
2. Once deflated, fold the raft neatly.
3. Store the raft in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Use the provided storage bag if available.

Repair Kit Use

In case of minor punctures, use the included repair kit. Clean the damaged area, apply adhesive, and patch according to the repair kit instructions. Allow sufficient drying time before re-inflating.

Raft Losing Air

• Check Valve Caps: Ensure all valve caps are securely closed after inflation.
• Inspect for Punctures: Inflate the raft and apply a soapy water solution to the surface. Bubbles will indicate a leak. Use the repair kit for small punctures.
• Temperature Changes: Air pressure can decrease in cooler temperatures. Re-inflate slightly if necessary, but do not over-inflate.

Difficulty Paddling

• Oar Assembly: Ensure oars are correctly assembled and securely seated in the oarlocks.
• Weight Distribution: Uneven weight distribution can affect maneuverability. Adjust seating positions.
• Currents: Strong currents can make paddling difficult. Avoid using the raft in such conditions.
