1. Introduction

This manual provides essential instructions for the safe and efficient use of your Lavazza LB1050 Classic Coffee Machine. The Lavazza LB1050 is designed to deliver high-quality espresso and milk-based beverages using Lavazza Blue capsules.

Safety Information

• Ensure the machine is placed on a stable, flat surface away from heat sources.
• Do not immerse the machine, power cord, or plug in water or other liquids.
• Keep out of reach of children.
• Only use Lavazza Blue capsules with this machine.
• Unplug the machine before cleaning or when not in use for extended periods.

Components

1. Water Tank: Removable tank for fresh water (1.5-liter capacity).
2. Capsule Insertion Lever: For opening and closing the capsule compartment.
3. Control Panel: Buttons for various coffee selections and settings.
4. Coffee Dispenser: Where coffee is dispensed into your cup.
5. Drip Tray: Collects excess liquid and supports cups.

3. Setup

1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the machine from its packaging. Remove all protective films and packaging materials.
2. Placement: Place the machine on a clean, dry, and stable surface. Ensure adequate ventilation around the machine.
3. Rinsing the Water Tank: Remove the water tank, rinse it thoroughly with fresh water, and fill it to the MAX level with potable water. Reinsert the tank securely.
4. First Use Cycle:
   • Plug the machine into a grounded power outlet.
   • Turn on the machine using the power button. The machine will begin to heat up.
   • Place a container (at least 200ml) under the coffee dispenser.
   • Once the machine is ready (indicator light stable), press any coffee button to initiate a rinse cycle. Allow the water to flow through until the tank is nearly empty.
   • Refill the water tank. The machine is now ready for use.

4. Operating Instructions

Making Espresso or Coffee

1. Ensure the water tank is filled and the machine is powered on and heated (ready indicator light is stable).
2. Lift the capsule insertion lever.
3. Insert a Lavazza Blue capsule into the compartment.
4. Close the capsule insertion lever firmly.
5. Place a cup on the drip tray under the dispenser.
6. Select your desired coffee size by pressing the corresponding button on the control panel. The machine offers 3 different coffee sizes.
7. The machine will dispense the coffee and stop automatically.
8. After brewing, lift the lever again to eject the used capsule into the internal container. Close the lever.

Making Milk-Based Beverages (Cappuccino, Latte Macchiato, Frothed Milk)

The machine supports 4 milk-based recipes and offers customizable froth levels. Refer to the specific milk frother attachment instructions for detailed steps if your model includes one.

1. Ensure the milk frother is clean and correctly assembled.
2. Fill the milk frother with the desired amount of cold milk.
3. Place the frother under the milk dispenser.
4. Select the desired milk-based beverage button on the control panel.
5. The machine will automatically froth and dispense the milk.
6. If making a cappuccino or latte, follow with the espresso preparation steps.

Programming Coffee Volume and Temperature

The Lavazza LB1050 allows for programmable coffee volumes and customizable temperature settings.

• To Program Coffee Volume:
  1. Insert a capsule and place a cup.
  2. Press and hold the desired coffee button. Release the button when the cup contains the preferred amount of coffee. The machine will remember this setting for future use.
• To Adjust Temperature: Refer to the machine's specific temperature setting mode, usually accessed by holding a specific button combination or through a menu if available. Consult the on-screen prompts or indicator lights for guidance.

Regular maintenance ensures optimal performance and longevity of your coffee machine. Always unplug the machine before cleaning.

Daily Cleaning

• Drip Tray and Used Capsule Container: Empty and rinse daily. Wash with warm, soapy water and dry thoroughly.
• Water Tank: Rinse daily with fresh water.
• Exterior: Wipe the machine's exterior with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
• Milk Frother (if applicable): Clean immediately after each use to prevent milk residue buildup. Disassemble and wash all parts with warm, soapy water.

Descaling

Descaling is crucial to remove mineral deposits and maintain machine efficiency. The frequency depends on water hardness and usage.

1. Refer to the descaling instructions provided with your descaling solution.
2. Empty the water tank and fill it with the descaling solution mixed with water according to the product's instructions.
3. Place a large container under the coffee dispenser.
4. Initiate the descaling cycle (refer to your machine's specific descaling procedure, often indicated by a flashing light or a dedicated button).
5. Allow the solution to run through the machine. Repeat if necessary.
6. After descaling, rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill it with fresh water. Run several rinse cycles with fresh water to remove any descaling residue.
