AQUA CREST AP110 Sediment Water Filter Cartridge Instruction Manual

Model: AQU-WF96

1. Product Overview

The AQUA CREST AP110 Sediment Water Filter Cartridge (Model AQU-WF96) is designed for whole house water filtration systems. It effectively reduces particles and sediments larger than 5 microns, including rust, dirt, coarse sand, fine sand, and silt. This filter is compliant with NSF/ANSI 42 standards and European Union ROHS environmental protection requirements, utilizing food-grade polypropylene for safe and reliable filtration.

2. Installation Guide

This filter is designed for use in any standard 10" x 2.5" whole house filtration system. Ensure you have the correct housing and tools before beginning installation.

Safety Precautions:

  • Turn off the main water supply before installation.
  • Depressurize the water system by opening a nearby faucet.
  • Ensure the filter housing is clean and free of debris.
  • Use appropriate safety gear, such as gloves and eye protection.

Installation Steps:

  1. Prepare the Housing: Unscrew the filter housing sump using a filter wrench. Remove any old filter cartridge and discard it properly.
  2. Clean the Housing: Wash the filter housing sump with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap residue. Inspect the O-ring for any damage or wear; replace if necessary. Lubricate the O-ring with a silicone-based lubricant if needed.
  3. Insert New Filter: Remove the new AQUA CREST filter from its packaging. Insert the new filter cartridge into the housing sump, ensuring it seats correctly on the center standpipe.
  4. Reassemble Housing: Carefully screw the filter housing sump back onto the housing cap. Hand-tighten first, then use the filter wrench to tighten it securely, but do not overtighten.
  5. Restore Water Supply: Slowly turn on the main water supply. Allow the system to fill with water, checking for any leaks. Once filled, open a nearby cold water faucet to purge air from the system until water flows smoothly.
  6. Flush the Filter: Run water through the system for a few minutes to flush out any carbon fines or air.

3. Operation

Once installed, the AQUA CREST sediment filter operates by allowing water to flow through its multi-layered structure. The graduated density layers capture progressively smaller particles, providing cleaner water throughout your home.

The filter is designed to maintain a stable and continuous water flow without significant pressure drop, ensuring consistent water pressure for your household needs.

By filtering out sediments, the cartridge helps protect various water-using appliances and fixtures in your home, such as refrigerators, faucets, washing machines, and coffee makers, from clogging and premature wear.

4. Maintenance and Replacement

For optimal performance and consistent fresh water, it is recommended to replace your AQUA CREST sediment filter cartridge every 3-6 months, or after filtering approximately 13,000 gallons of water. The actual replacement interval may vary depending on your local water quality and usage.

Filter Replacement Steps:

  1. Turn off the main water supply to the filter system.
  2. Depressurize the system by opening a nearby cold water faucet.
  3. Place a bucket or towel under the filter housing to catch any spilled water.
  4. Use a filter wrench to unscrew the housing sump.
  5. Remove the old filter cartridge and dispose of it.
  6. Clean the housing sump and inspect the O-ring as described in the installation section.
  7. Insert the new AQUA CREST filter cartridge.
  8. Screw the housing sump back on, hand-tighten, then use the wrench for a snug fit.
  9. Slowly turn on the main water supply and check for leaks.
  10. Flush the system by running water from a faucet for several minutes.

5. Troubleshooting

Common Issues and Solutions:

  • Reduced Water Flow:
    • Cause: Filter is clogged with excessive sediment.
    • Solution: Replace the filter cartridge. If the issue persists with a new filter, check for blockages in the plumbing system or filter housing.
  • Poor Filtration/Visible Sediment:
    • Cause: Filter cartridge is expired or improperly installed.
    • Solution: Ensure the filter is seated correctly in the housing. Replace the filter if it has exceeded its recommended lifespan. Verify the O-ring is properly sealed.
  • Water Leakage from Housing:
    • Cause: O-ring is damaged, improperly seated, or housing is not tightened sufficiently.
    • Solution: Turn off water supply, depressurize, and carefully open the housing. Inspect the O-ring for cracks or twists; replace if damaged. Ensure the O-ring is properly seated in its groove. Tighten the housing securely, but avoid overtightening.
