  6. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions, or is dropped or damaged in any manner.
  7. The use of attachments not recommended or sold by KitchenAid may cause fire, electric shock, or injury.

Setup

Before first use, ensure all parts are clean and dry. Place the mixer on a stable, flat surface.

  3. Attach Mixing Bowl: Place the mixing bowl onto the clamping plate, turning it gently clockwise until it locks firmly into place.
  4. Attach Accessory: Slide the desired accessory (flat beater, wire whip, or dough hook) onto the beater shaft. Rotate the accessory until it fits over the pin on the shaft.

Operating the Mixer

Follow these steps for effective and safe operation of your stand mixer:

  1. Add Ingredients: Place ingredients into the mixing bowl.
  2. Select Speed: Move the speed control lever to the desired speed setting. The mixer offers 10 speeds for various tasks:
    • Stir (Speed 1): For slow stirring, combining, and starting all mixing procedures.
    • Slow Mixing (Speeds 2-4): For heavy batters, mashing potatoes, or cutting shortening into flour.
    • Medium Mixing (Speeds 6-8): For medium-heavy batters, creaming butter and sugar, or whipping cream.
    • Fast Mixing (Speeds 9-10): For whipping small amounts of cream or egg whites, or for mixing thin batters.
  3. Adjust Beater-to-Bowl Clearance: If the beater is too far from the bottom of the bowl, it may not mix ingredients thoroughly. To adjust, turn the screw located on the mixer head (near the attachment shaft) slightly counter-clockwise to raise the beater, or clockwise to lower it. A dime should just clear the bottom of the bowl when the beater is attached.
  4. Monitor Mixing: Observe the mixing process. For optimal results, occasionally stop the mixer and scrape down the sides of the bowl with a spatula.
  5. Turn Off Mixer: When finished, move the speed control lever to the "OFF/0" position and unplug the mixer from the electrical outlet.

  • Attachments: The flat beater and dough hook are dishwasher safe (top rack recommended). The wire whip should be hand washed in warm, soapy water and dried thoroughly to maintain its finish.
